OEM TCA Bushes

Featured Replies

Yo!

Just bought a new set of TCA's off ebay, came with bushes obviously.

I can't help noticing that the standard items, are way way harder/stiffer than the polybushes i've previously replaced them with. All the standard bushes i've replaced for poly items have been shagged, so i never thought about it then. But now i've got brand-new poly's and OEM ones infront of me, the original seem the better option?

Don't really know the point of this thread, but has anyone else realised this?

I'll tell you in about 6 months time

If my polybushes look worse than that after 6 months I will know that I should of used oem ones again

I'm not mad on the whole polybush thing tbh, not for a road car anyway

Yeah but how old were they dude? I've had polybushes looking like that within 3000 miles, that was in a 1.05 8v!

Think i'll be making my own. I mean, bushes are really important. But it seems OEM & poly options are shit :doubt:

6 months old maximus, do you not read my post?

I replaced both TCA's and about 6 months later that was how one looked, they were torqued up in driven position ect too

they may 'feel' stiff, but they soften slightly, and running more power than designed for and constant shit, they soon wear man, poly's are more durable, if you get decent ones.

bushes can make or break a car man, i changed a pair of rear toe link bushes at work the other day, so a bush either side, just to slightly different rates and fucking transformed the car haha

Yeah man

i know dude, i know.

I'm a massive nice person

Mclovin, where them TCA's £14 suton auto factor specials? or better ones, My car tore through a cheap one in a week lol!

They were from GFS but no idea of the make and can't even remember how much they cost mate, I've bought a lot of shit since then

''Toffee'' I believe Guy :p

Max just use Poly's, they'll last a bit longer

I doubt, not unless i make some myself out of material i know isn't cheap shit.

I've had 2 sets on the breadvan now and the second set are on the way out already, both have had ample lubrication and were installed correctly.

Think I'm gonna design some aluminum/poly cross items 8-) , stainless middle boss aswell.

ill see if i can get hold of some stiff, good quality rubber bushes, they maybe the wrong size so you may need to make some collars to suit, i have done this in the past.

I'm pretty impressed with the OEM ones to be fair, but looking at what guys done to the, i don't wanna use them.

Cheers for the offer dude, i can get hold of any material i need for pretty cheap so i'll be making some. Might even sell them on here!

these will be rated parts mate ;) may even be hydrostatic

what poly bushes have you used in the past? powerflex ones arent the best, people get through them alot, i use superpro ones, had mine on a year, still fine!

I've never managed to wreck a set  so fuck knows what you lot are doing.:lol::lol:

Actual OEM (as in genuine VW items) will last longer than say, some from GSF i'd have thought.

Powerflex ones are softer than rubber ones i noticed and G-laddersiet ones are rock hard compared to rubber. (I'm running both on my TCA's (powerflex inner and G-laddersiet outer)

And Guy, you have to think about how low your car is and the abuse its getting over what it would be with standard suspension at standard height. I'd expect its working way out of its usual tolerances so its going to end up shagged. And i have massive de-ja-vu (sp) there

^^ Yeah, the geometry's wrong for the tca bushes when the front is lowered. So both the inner and outer bushes are always under twist load.

One way around this would actually be to twist the tca arms, but given the fracture risk to the iron i'm not gonna suggest that for a minute..

G-Lader nylon for me, solid! Will see how they go...

I bought a set in 2005 from GSF for my saloon and they're still on there. All I've had to replace in that time is a ball joint dust seal. Having said that, I've probably only done about 10k since then!
