Car: Polo Gti 6N2 2001

Hey there, I couldn't find what i was looking for.

Has anyone had experience changing the - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71) ?

I ran Vagcom and this error came up:

01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)

37-00 - Faulty

I wouldn't be too bothered but it stopping it clear my windows of mist by not getting proper intake or fresh air.

I can only find videos or different cars and not polo, i read somewhere that all dash has to come out? I'm really hoping not.

I'm fairly competent at carrying out minor work. (replaced HID ballasts with bumper off) (replaced break light switch)

I need to spend as little money as possible, or is it a case of taking it to a garage?

Are you really saying that the heating and ventilating control is by an electric motor? Even if this is the case, I doubt that this will show up as a fault on VagCom.

Will someone please provide an answer to this so that I can sleep at night???

yes, a motor controls all the airflow to vents on a 6n2 gti as its fully automated system. also, faults do show up in vcds/vagcom.

its a common failure, plastic spigot normally breaks on the motor prevent it controlling airflow as it should

Iirc only cars with climatronic have electronic motors to move the flaps etc. I stripped one down a few weeks ago, was a dashboard out job.

Yes only the climatronic have the motor and it is a dash out job

Removing

– Remove dash panel → Rep. Gr.70.

– Remove heater unit with evaporator.

– Carefully unclip air flow flap operating rod -1- from lever -2- using a screwdriver.

– Pull off connector -1-.

– Remove securing bolts -3-.

The control motor is to be guided into the distribution box and evaporator housing. To prevent damage:

– Lower control motor and simultaneously pull from shaft for fresh air and air recirculation flap -2-, -arrow A-.

Installing

– Insert control motor in shaft of fresh air and air recirculation flap -1-.

– Turn control motor in direction of -arrow A- and tighten bolts.

– Clip in operating rod for air flow flap.

– Push connector -1- onto control motor-2-.

– “Code control unit 07” with vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system -VAS 5051A- or vehicle diagnosis and service information system -VAS 5052- → Chapter and then initiate “basic setting 04” → Chapter.
