Got myself another car as trying to keep my 'loon clean/not ruin it. Just thought I'd show you guys...

Just wanted something fairly cheap but wasnt sure of options, had a few cars in mind but was put off that they'd also cost a fortune to run.

With the help of this forum, sort of, I finally decided to go for a mk2 golf gti as I'd always fancied one. I picked an 8valve over a valver with the idea I could pick up a tidier 8v for the money. For 23 years and 156K it still pulls like a train.

It does have a few niggles that I need to sort, but nothing to major. I went to see a couple that were in need of some serious TLC lol, but nothing in the area sounded up to it.

I found this on clubgti after various phonecalls and emails with pictures, my friend drove me the 100miles to see it in Nottingham. My fingers where crossed that it wasnt rotten..

It was sweet, full service history and MOT with loads of reciepts including previous years tax discs lol,

There's a tiny scab of rust on the O/S sill that had to have a little attention but a wire wheel, some K-rust and and a tin of satin black and its gone, the drivers seat has some patches "sewed" wear on the drivers bolster, but I've pulled some off and I think I could repair/get it repaired easy enough.

Had to to change the pads as they were well done, and also discovered it needed a new cv boot.

The gearbox is very whiney, and it clatters in neutral, suspected thrust release bearing, as the clutch itself seems good.

Letting it "develop" for now as I took a 600 mile round trip in it a last weekend and it was faultless.

So was really starting to fall in love with the golf, gave it a good clean.

Really didn't like the wheels at all, so sprayed them matte black to see if I would improve the look...

So as you can see the next problem was that it looked like an offroader...

Cue......

But then this if I actually wanted to be able to turn the wheels...

So decided to "borrow" the banded steelies from the polo and give it a bit of 'stance' :)

It's always good when you work with fellow dubbers..

Can go lower but it would mean removing the splitter as it's already a roadplough lol

so thats it for now.

Contemplating a VR swap tbh lol

a friend, of a friend might be selling me some alloys cheapish so the polo can have its wheels back soon :)

Gearbox went on friday so found a replacement today and in the process of swapping it over the next couple of days after work.

Just hope this ones not dead aswell lol
