After all the previous car problems I can finally say that I've got a mechanically good car ;D...Picked this up about 2 weeks ago for the massive sum of....£450 :p, Its a 1.3 genesis (mpi) was as bog standard as it gets on purchase, its got 64.000mi on the clocks so not to bad. body work is ok on it but cant expect immaculate for 450, underneath I'm happy to say is solid after all the problems with The Loon. Got a few plans but not mass amounts, There not to everyone taste but its growing on me abit and I think I will get it there once i have some money spare :) let me know what you think and keep checking for updates.

These wheels will be going on once I've Re-sprayed them, Spent hours preparing them ready for paint. Was disappointed not to find markings so still don't know what wheels these are :( But I found a code if anyone is hot on wheels it is KBA 40278....

Plans so far:

-Wheels to go on

-Better exhaust tip and cut the center silencer out

-Lower it either 60/60 - 40 or 80/80 - 60

-Either vinyl the rear side windows red so it looks like a van or do the common thing of plaster it in stickers

UPDATE:

Last night we went and ripped the 40mm lowering springs off the front of my old loon as I'm on a 0'p budget at the moment 8-)

Cheers dude :)

I'm just about to take a hammer to my rear arches to get some alley cats under them! Think its going to be a long old night haha. Loooks good though bud! Get it down lower though definitely. 80/80 sounds good!

  • Author

You will be done in 5 mins matey. As you can see by mine just tap where need doing instead of the whole arch, Was a 5min job each side :). also dont tap it right back to the arch leave a small run so it dont get crap/water behind it and rot your arches... 80/80 wont happen anymore :( Them alleycats on it wont tuck properly cause of the offset, will probably get 40-60 tops. 80 on the front though ;)

Right little update: At this point in time I haven't got a job so this car is being a slow zero pence built. Decided to make a exhaust out of some parts in the shed, I had a near brand new exhaust kicking about off my old mk3 loon and a exhuast off my mk1 golf. So I set about making the tip off the loon work had to cut a v out the exhaust tip to bend it below the bumper as it tucked right behind it, then I cut the old tip off my mk1 pipe and mate it bend in the angle I wanted and this is how it turned out.

I'm shit at welding so got my dad to do it

DSCF2072.jpg

Tacked up ready (didn't take a pic of how it ended up sorry :-( )

DSCF2078.jpg

This also resulted in the exhaust not hangin a 1ft off the car so its had a tummy tuck too :-D

Aslo fitted chrome handles but haven't took a pic :(

Let me know what you think so far :)

you can see the chrome door handles in the first pic up on the ramps bud :p lol liking the home done exhaust like.

good starting point like

Oh yeah :retard: ... Cheers bud:) its getting there slowly, Next on the list is to get my rear arches properly rolled out so the wheels dont catch and no doupt will need them spayed after too  , but then I can reach proper lows :ninja:

I like this alot buddy, How do people find these cars with low mileage for the price, Its not fair!

Anyway, i want some alloys like yours, What are they?

  • Author

Cheers mate :)..Haha they are around dude you just got to be on the web 24/7 looking. Not long ago I saw a 1.3 coupe 38.000 one lady owner go for £300 t&t. wasnt even on autotrader a day before it sold :( was gutted when I rang.

And I belive they are alleycats dude so my mate reckons, 13x6j. But they are rare by the looks of it so good luck with finding some ;)

Cheers dude and they are pretty fookin loud tbh lol :D payed like £10 extra for the extra loud horns ;)...And got them off of ebay mate :)

Right so I did abit this weekend I swapped the straight through pipe I had with my mate for:

G40 exhaust manifold

De-cat down pipe

KTM 600 motorbike exhaust

Did this purely because I really couldn’t be arsed making my standard backbox fit on the straight through and this bike exhaust makes it sound like a g40 :p

Attempt 1 on my drive way;

DSCF2137.jpg

DSCF2140.jpg

DSCF2138.jpg

DSCF2139.jpg

DSCF2142.jpg

DSCF2143.jpg

^^^

All I accomplished here was breaking the exhaust gasket and getting pissed off  ...Basically the bottom screws in the manifold were shagged and 2 where missing and I didn’t have none the right size :disgust: so I had to return it all to standard lol...

Attempt 2 at my mate’s garage;

179900_3856975577176_828212648_n.jpg

^^

Major relieve getting these after driving round for a day sounding like a canal boat

Manifold and down pipe on :D was suppressed its actually a bit quicker off the mark now :)

I couldn’t fit the bike can at the garage as my mate used different mount so today I will weld my mount onto the O-ring that goes round the exhaust. All I did when I got home was clean it up abit

Cut my spare mount off ready to be welded

before

Took the tip off and got it on the polishing wheel

And 5mins later looks as good as new :)

also got this lol

That’s all for today will update tomorrow maybe when I’ve got the bike can on and maybe post a vid of how it sounds... As always any feed back is welcome either good or bad :)

Small progress as always:

So fitted the bike can which I love :D sounds awsome! people say they are really loud but tbh its got no baffles in it and its only loud when its winding down from high revs, other than that it just has a nice raspy tone to it....Also haven't got any pics of this but i got sick of the archs scrubbing off of the side of my rear tyres so I got the on the ramps and my mates garage and took a mallet to them, And to be honest I haven't done a bad job. The paint didnt crack to much and they wernt to wobbley and I've hammered them queit abit too :) But the best out come of it means.... *drum roll*...I can reach lows now :D So my 3600watt sub is up for sale to pay for a lowering kit ;), was toying with the idea of fitting rear mk1 coilovers and cutting a coil out my 40mm springs on the front, But seems abit half arsed so as soon as the su has gone getting lows :D...

Any way couple of random pics to keep the ball rolling....

The bike can on the car;

And just some car pic's after a wash and polish

DSCF2146.jpg

DSCF2147.jpg

This picture just shows how much I need new plates :(

DSCF2149.jpg

Clean interior :D

DSCF2152.jpg

Anyway leave feed back as always

And what do people suggest as the best/cheapest lowering kits??....

Right haven't updated in a while so here it goes...

About a month ago my car got crashed into by some prick and before I could even look in my rear view the idiot had reversed half way down the road out of sight. So after this I was left with all the metal work caved in below the light and dented, the boot dented abit and a mangled bumper, Which looked like sooo,

301183_4175404057689_2005313183_n.jpg

So I had to get to work and sort it so I got a jack inside the boot and pushed it all straight....

523146_4271906670194_1869655897_n.jpg

Right now the big part, I've had this idea going around in my head for a long time and the crash kinda just made me think FUCK IT and just go ahead and MATT BLACK the shit out of it ;)...

Reasons for this;

1. I fucking hate red cars

2. It was starting to rust through alot in places and the paint was going shitty

3. Why the fuck not, Its a £400 car lol

Right I dont have many pictures yet sadly and the ones that were taken were off a blackberry so not the best...

Last night of red just before sanding,

After sanding and filling the back out and filling the arches out were I've attacked them with a hammer,

303270_4273203162413_644716661_n.jpg

Oh yeah and I did it with rattle cans and it came out perfect people dont believe I've sprayed it they think I've wrapped it, So to all the people that say it would have came out shit, HA! £70 and a strong trigger finger later and its looking fresh 8-)

Will update next week as I've got some pressed plates and lowering kit in the post. :D

As alwasy feedback is welcome good or bad.

Your trigger finger must have been fuckin tired lol, how long did it take to spray the whole lot?

Looks sick btw

dude, that looks soo clean

  • Author

Hahaha It was blistered when I was done lol

and Well with priming and the colour it only tooke 4hours of so, Most of the time was taken waiting for layers to dry, Came out mint though :D Slamming it this week :p
