so as above i decided on a 1.4tdi polo as it was in my price range and was cheap to insure and run and it obviously had to be a vdub, was a real head over heart buy! my bank balance had had enough of running my mk2 golf gti as a daily averaging about 30mpg :-)

however saying that i can't be running a daily that doesn't look half decent so the first thing i did was to colour code the awful front and rear valance, and all the bump strips and door handles

here she is all colour coded and cleaned up, i think it's a serious improvement over standard

i have also got hold of some bora sport alloys for the princely sum of £55 :-D i have refurbed them in bmw sparkling graphite and have been fitted with new vw centres, i have also got a set of 165/50/16s ready to go on for a bit of stretch (about as much as you're gonna get on a 6.5j rim aha)

got some pressed plates and 100w bulbs on order atm and then i'll be selling the original wheels to fund some coilys and then she will be spaced out for a proper decent stance :-D

and here's a shot of the mk2 gti, unfortunately she got hit so waiting to get funds together to get her back looking sweet again :)

that gti looks sick mate, polo looks good amazing what a bit of colour coding can do, what did you do to prep the bumpstrips before you sprayed them? were they already smooth or the textured ones?

they're textured, as it's a daily i cba to smooth them so i just keyed them in, gave them a couple of coats of plastic primer, couple of coats of colour and a couple of coats of lacquer, came out really nice though

so i've done a bit more work to the daily, fitted new pressed plates, debadged the rear, fitted a new stubby aerial and got my alloys and tyres on, also changed all the front bulbs to 100w bright white ones, only to find one of the filaments was busted on one, so guess i'll be taking the front bumper off again next week!

given her a good clean and wax too and she's looking just about right atm, except for the awful arch gap, never fear though, philj ta technix coilovers will be ordered this week along with shortened drop links so i can go proper low :-D

20mm spacers turned up today so i got on it and fitted them

coilovers and drop links should be here by the weekend so will be getting on that on saturday with my mate

then i'm gonna be getting a stage one map and some 15mm spacers for the front and that's about it i reckon

cheers dude, the 20mm is just to see what it looked like, will most likely be chucking the 20s on the front and getting some 30s on the back once it's low so i can get the stance right

yeah man i can't wait til it's silly low!

i didn't bother sanding them back to flat, not worth the hassle so i just keyed them in with some 600 grit wet and dry and then plastic primered them before paint :)

don't really understand why i haven't seen more cars on here with colour coded front and rear valances, the black abs plastic looks awful in my opinion!

And true, it looks shyte, I've had my fronts smoothed but my sides are still black, desperatly need them c/coded!!

yeah it is all still fully textured, but looks plenty good enough for a daily

if i was getting the car show spec then i would have got the filler out and smoothed them all but that's far too much effort aha

look what turned up today

got a week off work now and hopefully my mate is coming over tomorrow so we can get them fitted! :-D

progress so far is fronts are done, and back will be done tomorrow hopefully

small problem is that now my engine management light and abs light are on, i think the engine management is where i had to unplug and move some stuff to get to the strut housing, hopefully a good clean out tomorrow will sort that!

the abs light though i think could be where i accidentally hit one of the wires when knocking the original strut out of the housing on the hub, so may need to strip that and splice in a fresh bit of wire =/

hopefully should be able to get it sorted, cba with a garage bill

Thats problem wih doing stuff yourself or doing anything with the car in general something else always crops up that needs attention.

My sleeves on my ARB are f'd and my enigine management light is on from a corroded lambda probe, but id rather spend the money on wheels and tyres aha!

i hink the acks are a lot easier, the pack looks like springs but I'm geussing there coilies right?

How low are ou planning on going?

sorted the engine management light, took everything apart again and got the compressor to blow all the crap out!

abs light is still on but meh might take it to the garage next week sometime if i cba aha

backs are now on too sits alright atm, should sit better and lower once it's settled a bit :-)

obviously it's wound all the way down all round

yeah i thought it would sit lower tbh, that's with shortened droplinks too!

it needs a couple of weeks to settle then i'll see where i go from there, need some 15mm spacers for the front and then i will probably end up removing the helper springs on the front to get it down more :-D

so 25mm spacers, tuning box and a genuine vw stubby aerial are gonna be ordered on friday :-D

in the mean time some pictures of my mates gti edition 150tdi golf, such a nice ride! comes factory fitted with r32 kit, recaro leather and vw satnav unit :p

we adjusted the coilovers and gave it a real good clean, polish and wax so thought we'd get some snaps, just waiting on 10mm rear spacers and she's pretty much finished :-D
