I have always wanted a mk3 polo coupe ever since my grandad had one when i was small.

after my 1st car (polo 6n2) which well now is in bits and the roof line is 3ft shorter than usual, I bought myself another polo 6n2 exactly the same as the first lol

I never quite felt atached to the 2nd one like i did the first so te hunt was on for a mk3.


after about a year of rot boxes, sheds and total mot failures, I managed to find (off this website) what would be my first mk3 polo coupe.


Went to look at it, put down a deposit then next day drove it back to mine.


Drove back faultlessly, nice, smooth and nippy for what i would of expected lol

Just like to say a big thanks to willsalter1000 for the car.



So after getting it home first thing was to check to see if i could fit a radio
yes the wiring harness is there but i dont have that sized speakers

next was to wipe down the interior and fit my gear knob that I've had laying around for ages.(shall see it in the pics)



Then was a wash and much deserved polish and these are the results

so as the sun came out i sort of rushed the polishing to get it done for some pics.

now since I've had it i have done a few thing to it.

I have fitted my wooden gear knob with the wolfsburg crest on and some period vw rubber mats as you can see...



now the speakers in the center console are there obv cos i dont have a radio.. or didnt have lol

just fitted one in the other day and it dont sound all that bad lol the dash acts like a bass box and the little 10cm speakers do their job well lol

i have pics but shall have to upload them later.




under the skin

decided to give the engine bay a good clean and see if there were any nasty surprises lurking about and i am pleased to inform you that there isnt lol







still need some work cus its no were near my standard of clean yet lol

but give it time

new lows
yellow tinted headlight bulbs (retro look)
de-badged grill (who can resist at £4..59) hehe

thats it for now but shall get better pics of interior up in abit and then its just waiting for new parts

Small update

Found my pictures of the speakers i have put in an a close up of the gear knob.

ALSO... I got myself some yellow tinte headlight bulbs!!! look awesome but the do give off a weird smell lol not burning or anything like that sort of alcoholic lmao

realy smartens up the front end like and i know couldnt belive the price so i just had to lol

ANYWAY ITS UPDATE TIME!!!!!!!!!

Soooo last night i got bored and nothing is very well thought through when your bored lol

I decided to remove the bump strips..

managed to get the drivers side one off no problem how ever i SLIGHTLY underestimated the stickyness of the sticky stuff underneath lol

I tried tar remover, petrol, t-cut and many other methods to remove it but only the petrol managed to shift some of the little bits of glue.

so unless you want to spend a week on each side i suggest you go out and buy your self a toffee/caramel/caramac wheel...

it only cost me £6 and its easier than people make it out to be you just have to be careful using it lol but..

THEY ARE BRILLIANT!!!

so this is my failed attempt last night lol

so today i gave it another go after buying a toffee wheel or as the detailing shop called it a DO NUT??

as you can see the sticky crap on the rear is still there

Finally got one side done, well i say finally it took 25 min lol and that included buffing the residue away lol

you can make you the yellow dust that is created by the wheel so please dont do it on your mums nice lawn lol

Sooo time for the other side and these are the results

thanks paintwork still isnt up to scratch yet but i am a perfectionist lol

Ah you see, your girlfriend must have her own car.. This is is where you have went wrong. My girlfriend can't drive, so she has to love anything that I drive. And she has really grown to like it now, she complains whenever I mention buying a Mk2 Golf or something haha

no she cant drive lol she loved my 6n2 tho but she will have to get used to it or there is always the bus

someone must know what it is over there? its a tool that people use when stripping emergency vehicles reflective off i.e. ambulances and so on.

so easy to use i used a normal drill with two handles on 1000rpm, it says 4000 max but 1000 did it for me plus you have extra controll. then once the glue was off it was just a case of buffing what was left of the wheel that had stuck to the paint off, n well you have seen the results lol

just for anyone that doesnt know what the hell this wheel looks like this is it

the toffee wheel

it is basically a softish rubber disc, it did have a flat edge but as you can see this is what it will look like when used about a 34/45 degree angle

can get them on bay of E or any other body specialist places

i just searched car body detailing toffee wheel and it came up after some searching.

I used hot water on all my cars and it was fine. Wouldn't bang boiling water on though.

Good work on the car and a great colour :-) Keep it simple with this one. As its condition and quality speaks for itself.

i agree hot water to a point but id test it on some hidden paint work first just to see what happens lol

had a bit of a road trip following my uncle in his LT28 short wheelbase reimo camper to the MOT station.

our little convoy turned some heads in the towns like glad to see some people recognise good cars when they see them :p

Cheers for the heads up :) mines calypso green, dunno if it would damage the metalic...? but il avoid boiling water! haha, werent too kean on the idea to be honest, was just a suggestion was someone. but il try hot water, before spending money as I'm a cheapskate! haha. been trying to get the majority of the sticky pad of while its dry just cos it looks ugly as sin, and it kills your thumbs and fingers!!
