no more top gear this year

Featured Replies

Just been reading in the paper that there won't be a series of top gear later on in the year because they don't want it to clash with X factor, but surely the existence of the BBCiplayer dispel's that excuse as bullshit? And what about those of us that don't want to watch some talentless idiot shouting into a microphone while some other smug twats sit and take the piss out of them?

Fuck Simon Cowell

Although we will still get an Xmas special

That sucks donkey dick, could they put it on at a different time/date?

FFS

In the interview with Louis Walsh on Top Gear recently Jeremy said exactly that. So are we just going to have one 7-episode season a year now then? There were 19 episodes a year a while back.

Sick of the BBC, i don't watch their shit but for Top Gear.

No more licence fee from me. Got i-player on HDMI to the screen which gets me off the law, saves me a month's petrol.

fucking x factor what a load of horse crap simon cowell needs to sod off with his band of shitty judges and let us have proper entertainment

Capitalism <3

Ugh, this nation is full of fucking retards.

As a kid I just assumed it was common practice to turn the tv off when the neighbours came round to say the detector man was about

Just wish it was as easy to get round it these days, when we first moved into our house we signed up with virgin and got a letter through the door from the tv licence people threatening to send us to jail cause they knew we had a tv because we had just got cable. What's this loop hole you speak of with the HDMI mikey?

A cable going from a PC to a TV.

But you still need a tv licence for that, its how its worded on the licence some thing about any device capable of receiving tv stations and then goes on to list a whole host of shit including pc's and games consoles.

It was about five years back that I read that mind so it may of got twisted in my head, but as I remember it that was the jist of it

Just had a look and it says you do need one if your watching as its broadcast but if your watching on some kind of catch up service then you don't. So your right mikey you don't need one to watch iplayer

If you put a TV card into your PC, yes. I don't think streaming video counts are receiving a station.

See my edit Mr loof

What kind of retarded shit is in charge of the BBC! This sucks! Who watches X-factor anyway? Mostly women. And Top Gear has a majority male audience, so surely a clash isnt really that much of an issue  I hate X factor, and simon cowell with his nipple high trousers :x .

See my edit Mr loof

Loof?

I thought that would be the case. There is plenty of the 'Fuck the system' types making videos on Youtube about the licence fees.

Not quite, what about all those of us who don't use the iplayer?

But I would imagine its as much down to budgets as anything else. The BBC has been forced to reduce its spending like all public services in the country (which it essentialy is), hence the move of many studios to Manchester (although they still ship the presenters up and down from London every day). The budget cuts are evident to anyone who watches Breakfast in the morning, the studios are now much smaller and less flashy. Its a shame that one of the only decent shows the BBC makes has to be cut though. Along with the F1, and most of the live football. They just can't compete with the huge budgets of Sky.

Insane, cowell must be paying the BBC some dollar to do that. As xfactor isnt even a BBC thing so it makes no odds to them. infact it's better for them to air topgear when its on surely?

Hopefully, said dollar will go into a longer series of topgear next year.

What happened to like 12 episodes a series. instead of what, 6? is it now!

Yeah, just think how much more money Sky has to put into it over the BBC

Yeah, everybody has to pay it, but its a small amount compared.

I just have sports and moves with my virgin media, and pay £30 a month for sports and movies alone!!

Thats a hell of a lot more than the TV licence.

We bitch that the tv licence goes up, so they freeze it. Then we bitch that they cant fund things like topgear and the F1

I'ts our own fault.

Not entirely. As with all publically funded services there is vast amounts of waste. If the BBC (like all public services) was forced to behave like a private business, they'd soon find the money from somewhere. As it stands, the top brass get big dollar regardless of performance and aren't held accountable. The problem with the BBC is its 'diversity' (who really watches BBC4?), bbc 3 shows the same tripe that used to be the staple of the liberal channel 4 (britain unzipped, wtf? snog, marry avoid, wtf? etc.) and repeats of Russel Howard (see Dave) and Family Guy/American Fag. Who listens to Radio 1 extra and the Asian Network? The majority of this is payed for by the Liecence Fee and selling programmes to other channels, so we can watch it again! If the BBC concentrated on BBC1 and 2 and Radio 1 (which is shite anyway and full of over paid egotistical morons e.g. Scott Mills who kicks the Arse from any joke and Fatty Moyles who has made a living from being a loud hypocrite) radio 2 and radio 4, they'd have plenty to spend on good shows

I was just about to write a long winded post in reply to your first post bitching about the BBC and how its funded, I then read the second one and agree with it totally

Toby I pay fifty odd quid a months (including phone and net) which may on the surface seem more expensive than the licence fee, but when you take into account the fact I don't watch the BBC for anything other than top gear (now that the stupid twats have ditched shooting stars in favour of cookery shows) and the misses only really watches eastenders the rest of the time we are watching channels only available on virgin. So for all the radio and tv stations available from the BBC that are funded by a stealth tax enforced on me by law only about 2 hours a week are of any interest to my household, not really worth the fee imo

Give me the option and i'll stop paying the license fee and not bother watching the BBC again, i'll just catch up with TG on Dave

I'm capable of speeding when driving in a 30 zone, doesn't mean i'm going to.

The BBC can't get anything through court unless they can prove you've watched live BBC telly without a licence. That you can recieve it is irrelevant, that you watch it second hand is irrelevant, they've got to get you commiting the crime of recieving a service you haven't paid for. I-player is free. I pay for Sky, i have the right to view non-BBC channels through my Sky box.

If you ain't watching a live BBC signal, there's no crime. You need to know this is your right in case they 'try it on'.

Disagree with me? I dont believe it

Am I the only one who thinks Topgears gone shit now anyway? I hardly pay attention to it anymore cos it's just turned into a parody of itself.

As for the tv license, the only channels that are funded by it are from the BBC, because the other channels use advertising to fund their programs.

So why don't the BBC just start showing adverts? We now have the technology to fastforward through them anyway.

An obvious point would be that the people advertising would have a say on the program formats, but the BBC is far from the days of daring tv programs, it's already being raped by censorship.

It would take a monumental conversion of infrastructure, one that has to be agreed on levels that'd take years to negotiate - but then, to think the BBC doesn't have a 'plan B' would surely be naive..?

What beats me is having to pay extra for BBC4. Just WTF do i pay the licence fee for again?

Radio 1 is okay when it's not been politically raped by 1-extra, which i'd tune into if i wanted to listen to it, although Chris Moyles is more of a burnt out dinosaur now than i am, which leaves Annie Mac and Zane. Radio 2 only just beats local radio and even then, only because it doesn't have adverts.

Baby likes C-beebies but she only watches it recorded, not that i don't think it deserves funding but i don't have to pay for what she watches by law..

It aint post-war britain anymore. We want what we want, not what they wanna force down our throats..

Am I the only one who thinks Topgears gone shit now anyway? I hardly pay attention to it anymore cos it's just turned into a parody of itself.

Someone must think it's still a great program http://celebrity.uk.msn.com/news/internati...-for-top-gear-3 :-)

Doesn't that just prove that all the other programs are rubbish too :D

Its the likes of the overpaid wankers on the BBC that suck alot of money, like the days of jonathan woss getting a million quid a year for polluting our tv screens.

x factor is shite but then the voice aint any better. when will they actually bother to try and make some new shows and not just recycle the same ideas over and over? Give me some proper comedy shows and anything which is actually entertaining and given the chance, id send the bbc a turd through the post (which would probably end up presenting the breakfast news anyway) than pay the licence fee
