the question is where i need to plug the red wire from the loom?

as the black cable goes from negative coil to negative on the batery

and the red cable from positive on coil to??? ignition???? and to wich wire did i need to connect it?

Mine have conectors that apear to go to the coil live and earth as the coil has live and negative prongs. just what i assumed

if you look to the top left of the pic you can see the conectors dunno if this helps

mine got connectors too , but the only problrm is these red cable

I'm stumped mate then sorry

found that:

feed for the new coil taken from black wire from ignition barrel switch

so red cable goes to black cable on the ignition swich??

I have a ground.

A plug to neg & positive of coil, ignition feed to positive of cool (wasn't part of loom) and then the plug for the amp & plug for hall sender

is the red one not the tacho feed mate

It won't run with that dizzy, you need a centrifugal advance dizzy (has a flying-saucer for idle advance).

It would run but at fixed timing (the base timing) ? Surely? Or am I tired haha.

Trace the wire back. Is it spliced into anything?

connected red cable from coil to ignition swich, and black goes to negatrive on batery, but still haven't got spark!

Think my ignition coil is fucked up? SPI dizzy is temporary only, later will fit an vaccum advanced one. On my ex bready with AFH lump was running the same dizzy from SPI and was OK.

also did the ignition module need to be grounded????

No part of the loom connects to an ignition supply.

It's feed comes from the ignition supply on the coil. As you'll have two connections on the coil

Did you run this ignition system in the bready?

I cant see how its going to work as the dizzy is different internally, I have an SPI one here and I know that it wont trigger the spark as i tried it years back when I did the injection to carb conversion.

And that loom you have looks like its from a K-jet engine hence all the extra wires and the big multiplug

The normal polo/basic golf looms have a long black cable going to the Battery negative, then 3 plugs: 1 for the ignition amp, 1 for the Hall Sender and the other is normally white and plugs into the coil. Coil + is the connected to a ignition on source.

the wiring is connected as you said, and the dizzy is the same tan in my ex bready with AFH

and it was work spot on

during the week will replace the coil first, if no spark probably will buy a vaccum advanced dizzy.

the loom was removed from carbed golf mk2, also got the loom from mk2 carbed coupe S polo and they are exacly the same inc. module part number.

Okay i'm confused and can't help unless i know more, so i'll be more specific..

1) Was the AFH in your ex bready running carbs?

2) What ignition system, exactly, did you use?

1)yes thats the picture of my ex bready with AFH onboard

sdc13908.jpg

standard polo 1.3 MH wiring with polo 6N SPI dizzy

2) on my current mk2F I'm running golf mk2 carbed loom with ignition module, golf mk2 coil, dizzy from polo mk2f 1.3 spi AAV

the only diference is that now in my mk2f got 1.6 16v AVY engine with drilled cam and adaptor plate to fit dizzy.

Well, the Golf loom should be fine, just the issue of the wires being a different length which you've obviously sorted.

My AVY is running reasonably well considering it hasn't been off the driveway yet, and that's with the complete TCI-H ignition you're using, but for the basic hall carrier dizzy you have (which as you know is supposed to be accompanied by various speed/position/gas sensors elsewhere on the engine) instead of a sole full mechanical advance reader dizzy as this system should use.

But as it worked on the static cam engine before, it should work on the AVY (it must be on the inlet cam, exhaust is okay on a static engine but on the vvt the dizzy must run off the inlet cam).

You're either getting a spark or you're not, you did before, so the fault lies with the ignition, either with a connection or faulty component - the coil in the picture is damaged, but should still spark.

I'm looking for simple things and easy mistakes to make now - You've definately got a live ignition feed to the coil, tested live..? So then you check you're getting a spark from the coil (use insulated pliers!), then at the other end of the king lead, then at the radius arm, then the HT lead, then plug..?

replaced today dizzy for vacum advanced one, also replaced coil and module, and still no spark :(

sdc10373.jpg

so think the only problem now can be fucked cable in the loom?

also the dizzy part number is 030 905 205 A so its defo polo mk2 dizzy.

Edited by Adamos_20

You haven't got the red wire still going to ignition live have you as like I said before its the tango feed

got the red wire pluged to ignition and its defo ok, as checked the coil wirind using a cable and bulb. tommotow I'm going to buy new cap and rotor arm too

i use the golf wiring though not the polo one and i only wired the black to the battery i didnt have a red one the only one i did have went to the tacho

red with black stripe goes to tacho.

Is the coil putting out a spark to the king lead?

no spark (or don't know how to check it) , the red/black wire is conected to ignition switch and when i turn ignition on it gives current to coil, the black is conected to the - batery, also there is current on one of the wires in the plug in the dizzy
