Well you need to work along from one end to the other.

To find out if the coil's putting out a spark, simply connect a HT lead straight to the coil and earth a spark plug on it, then crank the engine. Better still, just hold the king lead almost touching an earth point and it'll jump to it (wouldn't be the first time a duff king lead has been the culprit).

Of the three pin plug on the dizzy, i don't know what you should have there, so i can't confirm if that's right or not. Seems the next thing to check if the coil's putting out, but it's not being passed on to the HT leads. Could be the multi plug at the amp end too, not much else if you've tried a different amp and dizzy.

Make sure you have the correct rotor arm or try another one, mine's been very reliable but i've had a duff rotor arm.

You only need an ignition feed to the coil.

Then One wire of the loom is a ground, everything else is there.

You say you have the red wire connected to ignition or whatever, and it doesn't work; when people are saying its a tachometer wire? How about wiring it as stated then report back?

On a mk2f, where would i take the live feed for the coil ?

As the Ecu is going to get binned off i cant really see anywhere to feed it from ..

Or would i have to make my own using a relay etc ?

I wouldn't use a relay for the ignition feed to coil personally.

I took my feed off the existing one to coil on my 6n, just trace it back and keep that wire and the others you need and bin the rest off

why not? its just a 12v feed.

But the coil should have its own ignition feed. the red/black cable is normally very thin, connect a decent thickness cable and attach it direct to the battery and see if you get a spark.

Remove the dizzy, and spin it by hand with the king lead resting against something, saves trying to turn the engine over and do it.

Really need to get a haynes manual .. I'm guessing it would be red lol ? but I'm sure these feeds through the ecu ?

i dunno iv just been advised its best not to have stuff in the ignition feed, dunno why tbh id run a relay tbh, but yeah lol
