Polo Gti - Simple, Student budget build. (Photo Heavy)

Featured Replies

Just sold my 8v 6n2, the progress was going great but the car didnt go anywhere:

shopped-1.jpg

I've decided to get a GTI, Spent weeks searching and finally found one that ticked all the boxes..

Full 12 months MOT

Tax

89k miles

Few subtle mods

Service history

At a great price.

To start with It looked a bit crap, stickers everywhere, Red VW badges, Discoloured grills, a misty headlight and the desperate need for a service.

To kick off the cleaning up I removed all the stickers, one revealed a nasty scuff on the bump strip!

Sanded back my headlight to then polish out that horrible weathering

Gave it a big polish and wax

Resprayed the badges

Refurbished the wheels

Cleaned up the Air filter

So far its come along some way with no real money spent.

Coilovers are on the way.

I'm planning on getting some BBS RS Reps (Dare's) Or banded Steelies, depending on how things go.

Watch this space..

Looking sweet mate, you certainly know how to mod cars. Definitely stick with the turbos

Looks so much better without red badges and stickers, less is more as they say!

Cheers bro! Amen to that.

Also forgot to mention above, it has pressed plates ;D

Looks a very nice job on those headlights mate. Looking forward to your progress. what plans you got?

The previous owner didn't do the car any service by the looks of things. Need to get those headlight washers colour coded again imo, ruins the front end.

Yeah, he said he did, but the filters look pretty old, so I'm going to get it all sorted anyway.

Plans are to slam on BBS reps or banded steelies mate, get some decent stretch in the tyres..

Things to do:

Fit coilovers

Find and buy a set of wheels

Stretch tyres on to the wheels

Fix scratch on bump strip

vinyl wrap the roof potentially

stereo / sub

Service

Respray Honeycomb grills back to dark black

All the rest are just potential ideas, not sure what else to really do!

Coilovers will arrive today, i will start fitting them Thursday!

Already got it looking 100x better! Looking forward to seeing your progress :)

the front coilovers were a bitch to do, snapping one of the bolts holding the strut to the car was a pain!

As it stands currrently on its arse:

Finally perfected the coilovers, Fitted now, all on and it appears the front ones didnt come with adjusters!

No worries though, rides fine.

I slammed it to near enough lowest without adjusters front, and about 7 threads up at back.

The outcome is scary.

Dont look if you dont like moar than mental lows.

This didnt go down well.. Hit everything on the road, arches were making terrible noises from the wheels.

Raised it a tadd now, and will upload pictures later 8-)

Grills have been sprayed gloss black, so much better..

Two Fog light grills come out with screws,

The Lower GTI Honeycomb grill doesn't come out without snapping clips, so i masked it of and sprayed it.

Here are the results

To lower your front about 15mm in the picture above my post :p

However it's looking sick in the pictures above ^^ haha - not a criticism btw ;d

That is looking fooking sweet. really fancy a set of ronals myself! hmmm

  • Author

Aha, don't worry, I was just playing with them until I got them right!

I'm almost there, I think the back up 5mm and the front down 5mm on the more recent photos..

Also, lower profile / stretched tyres and spacers... Just saying ;D
