I spent about half an hour deciding which slat hahaha, I think will be better with a blacker bumper and new number plate :)

Tis what working 7 days a week on shift hours does mate I guess!

Sat messing with gear ratios.

Was thinking of running the CEG box due to change of tyre size from the 6n.

The box I ran in the 6n was a 1.3 8v box...on 195/45/15

In this if I ran the CEG it would be on 185/50/14.

This presents the following speeds, at 7000rpm....

1.3 setup in 6n

1st: 34mph

2nd: 56mph

3rd: 81mph

4th: 107mph

5th: 138mph

CEG in mk3 would be

1st: 32mph

2nd: 56mph

3rd: 87mph

4th: 111mph

5th: 147mph.

So first would be shorter, second the same, third, forth and fifth longer.

The third in my 1.4 box in the 6n was killing it, thats why changing to the 1.3 box made like half a second difference to 1/4 mile times, I'm not sure what to do tbh.

Id need to get another 1.3 8v box OR build mine into another set of casings, or try running the CEG with the slightly smaller tyres? just worried about third tbh...but maybe the less weight would compensate?

I'm running a CEG box on the G at the moment with 13s and low pros, Its WAY to short. Wasnt to bad on the standard RA's with bigger tyres though.

The CEG is all longer than what I had in 6n except 1st so should be ok?

CEG FTW!

Similar to what i have, but i think mines a tad longer... Its a CEC box, from a 1.4 golf or something.. wasn't used for long according to etka.

Mm just have to see how the CEG goes.

Need so many bits.

Anyone got a mk2 engine loom (coolant etc) ?

  • Author

Actually got some bits

ceg box is good i've got one on a 16v and its sweet non of the gear are to short really

could go for a g40 box if you can find one at a decent price, check the ratio's on that and work out you speeds, think they are in the faq somewhere

  • Author

G40 box is longerrr, the 1.3 8v box was virtually spot on as third was shorter and kept it on cam better, that's why I'm worried about using the CEG

What code was your 1.3 8v box? the ceg is from a 1.3 aswell.

Supposeyou will just have to find out for yourself really and see how it feels

Was from a 6n mate not a mk3 :) as you can see above, the CEG is longer, but them speeds are calculated using the tyre size I had on 6n & the tyres I'll be running on mk3.

I just hope the lighter car will compensate for the longer third!

It probably will dont know how much lighter the mk3 is but you can really tell the difference when you come out of a 6n and into a mk3, they probably feel faster than they actually are as well if you know what i mean.

Did you buy those bushes online? How much you pay and where from could do with doing mine before mot time

Yeah the 1.3 box seems much better, has anyone fitted a mk4/5 gearbox to a mk3 or could you swap out any of the gears from different boxes?

Need to get my car down to pod once its setup a bit better with exhaust fitted and stuff

What hp did you have in the 6n?

  • Author

Yeah man it's easy done.

I suppose I could build my 1.3 box into some other casings like just hassle.

Dunno about power tbh, I gave up chasing numbers and jus tweaked it til it felt better :)

your too anal man, your crying over 6mph difference...

Just fucking run the ceg and be done with!

  • Author

It's not the speed man it's the rev drop, I can't fathom how it would be to drive with the longer third

be fine!

  • Author

like you said, I'm anal haha.

Also I'll be messaging your regarding fixings part numbers ;)

More updates when there's proper progress, don't see the point in updating unless it's smoothed or slammed

Haha my engin bay is getting washed and a slim rad fan that's it, it's shut 99% of the time

Meh fuck it haha,

Please :-(

I like seeing all you thinking behind stuff, it makes me think things through for mine abit more  Helps me decide things too :p

After seeing the faff with filler on engine bays I've decided what I'm doing you'll be glad to know..... I'm making it look empty, but holey! asif everything has been removed for paint and not been put back together kinda thing, holes everywhereeee! civics do this, i like it ;)

So your gonna drill holes everywhere then?

Iv been thinking about tracking/general wheel alignment.

I know only one track rod is adjustable, and lowering the car will effect it even with lowered steering arms...now the way you adjust these this will put the rack off centre...

Does anyone know if these are a variable ratio steering rack? (varied pitch rack bar) I'd imagine it's just a fixed ratio, however if it's varied I think I'll make both sides adjustable so the rack back can be central at zero steering input.

If not I'll just have slight more lock one way than the other

Also if anyone can find some adjustable top mounts for sale please bounce a link my way, I had a set on eBay but I was at work and missed the end to bid

I found a website that sold them new the other day and can't now :(

Any help appreciated
