Harris' Mk2f CL Coupe

Featured Replies

I agree with changing the box, u can tell in the videos u had before springfest that it was letting it down

I wouldnt be too bothered about the rack, you are not gonna have to adjust it enough to make much difference anyways!

Edited by harris.racing

theres a 4 branch for sale on here atm for the 1.6....

I'm gunna be nosy, how much are the coilovers setting you back exactly? One day i want some :)

Go for a custom exhaust IMO. MK3's are nice people to get exhausts right, cant go wrong with a decent custom system IMO.

I've swayed too and from getting a custom to getting an off the shelf. Come to the conclusion the only option is custom!

Wheels done yet?

I just won a brand new on on ebay for £62 haha.

I won some top mounts too but I think iv fucked up and they're just poly, non adjustable :/ if so i dont want them!

Awkward translating german ebay :( pretty pissed if they're not adjustable.

Wheels are in my bedroom, no rush for them tbh man.

This weekend I might grab a few bits for engine and build it back up, but need the oil pickup!!

Coilovers were ermm £740 I think as am having helper springs and shorter main springs, shorter bodies too i believe, want them more usable in the range ill be running them as apposed to what they're designed for, we shall see. prob be epic fail

why would they be an epic fail?

I've never seen poly top mounts tbf.. other than adjustable ones. Who knows

Gotta be someone with a pickup somewhere?

Bug everyone thats breaking a MK3

  • Author

Some lad has the 3 mounts I want and the pickup, I just wanted bits for this weekend so I can get stuff coated and build the engine back up...ill try be patient but yeah, if not ill have to source elsewhere lol.

just because IMO its all a bit of a guesstimation lol. spring rates theres general 'banding' stages of what springs for what you want and axle weights and such, then theres the damping etc, I have no idea what kinda settings they're using and that, but hey. I want some comfort but capability, but polybushes will be pretty shit due to losing compliance etc, but hey we shall see. at least I'm giving myself half a chance buying something half decent haha.

can you not take yours out your gt engine?

i dont have a GT engine.. Sold it January last year

Be fine dude seriously. Even if its not exactly perfect, it will still be better than 99% of other MK2/3's out there haha!

  • Author

Gay haha, i did think that as i said it hmm.

i need so many bits and about another million ugandan dollars

wow man thats some list! this will be one of the most dialled in mk3's on here!

  • Author

go big or go home

ohh yess! you need to hurry with the engine bits so i can come up! well have a marathon weekend fitting everything haha

  • Author

i doubt will be poloshow ready, theres a lot of time consuming things i need to do like wiring and mount switches properly and such, but yeah youre welcome to come up when shit goes down, i was gonna have a week off tbh, but you could come and throw it together with me or something, will be a laugh plus i can borrow your grinder hahahaha

The most what eric?

But I'll agree, its gunna be sick!!!

Decided on what your doing with seats yet?

  • Author

Tbh mate i really aint thought about seats and such, i can do them kinda things afterwards :)

i like the pattern of the genesis ones and just want some black door cards, so maybe some rocco seats or whichever yours are, rado/rocco, idk.

actually though, i break up from college in a few weeks so can hit it hard! but seriously go down that list and add prices to things and youll soon realise why i cant just do it all like NOW haha.

won a 4-2-1 brand new for £62 just now :D

hehe yeah well get onit! and ill bring the grinder for sure! lol

Well, i have my breadvan seats ;)

They arent mint, but they are rocco seats

I want some standard genesis seats, just for the material.. id use the rocco seats but they are worth too much to slice up :)

So, let me know if you wanna do some sort of a deal ;)

yep, money pisses me off  limits too much tbh haha. literally controls your life!

if you want a "ged brace" come round over the bank holiday and il weld one up on your car

this will be finished before tobys is running at this rate nick! lol

  • Author

That would be a Kiz brace fool! hahaha.

I was gonna make one from some 25mm tube with a 4mm wall thickness, press the ends flat and weld the seam up, then attach with 2x m10 fixings either end?

Stop offering work Kiz.. spend the time on the G ;)

However, i might take you up on the offer next month, if its there still

Tricky tbh Nick, as the 'ged' ones mount to where the sump guard would mount, so the holes are already there.

To get two, your going to have to drill into your chassis leg & ARB mount

OR you want to mount it using the ARB mounts... which means you cant simply flatten the tube ends.

  • Author

theres 1x existing hole either side yeah? and plenty of room to get a nut behind, theres also room on that same face to drill another hole, i think, when i put my hand under the car for about 20 secs it felt that way anyway haha

Yeah, probably is tbh. Just from what i remember the hole is central.. dunno how much room either side there is.

One that goes into the chassis leg is a nice person also, to stop the nut from spinning on the inside through the little hole. Ball-ache  the little twisty adapters are lifesavers!

  • Author

cant be that hard, these polos compared to what i work on at work have so much space! at least you dont have to remove engines to change things like PAS pumps haha
