Anyone else see the episode with the Jag XK8? with the "new" system to de-coke the engine from the valves to the exhaust tail pipes (inc the cat) going on the emisssions readout it certainly seemed to work. Just wondered where you can get this done and how much it would cost???

You would have to compare the cost to a complete head overhaul and a new cat, I have emailed the program to see if they can give anymore info on the proccess, no reply yet.

While is was googeling it, I came across one idea to use soapy water into the throttle body while the engine is running @2000rpm This was based on the theory that after a head gasket failed the relevant piston and valves were spotlessly clean due to the steam cleaning effect of the water leaking into the cylinder.

When I was a trainee my moped was running rough, a boroscope inspection showed it to be carboned up, so one of the engine fitters fixed it by pouring some aircraft hydraulic fluid (DTD 585) into the carb with it running and within a few mins it was running like a dream, and another boroscope it looked like it had a new piston and valves.

Nah that was to port and polish the engine, as this is only to decoke it you wouldn't need anything abrasive. I'd suggest some thing like vinegar as it does a good job of cleaning coins

I've heard that there is a garage in Anniesland (Glasgow) that do it.

Couldnt give you a name though sorry!

Terraclean are also on facebook, i sent them an email and bumped in to them at the Mechanex trade exibition at event city in manchester.

They sold a few and a few garages will be using the equipment in about 6 weeks in and around Manchester

Had a chat with them about how it works and an in depth discussion on how they react with PD engines.

As for a place that do it in the northwest at the moment is ADS in Preston run by a guy called Frank Massey.
