Just after some advise about mk3 ride heights and such.

If I were to be down 80mm, with a stage 2 PPP frame; does anyone know how much frame clearance I'd have? Going on a standard circumference tyre?

Also, does anyone know the standard spring rates supplied with the Gaz coilover kits?

It'll be road use most the time, and not really hard use but a bit stiffer would be good.

I might see what they supply and just knock 25lbs off the front and rear rates, who knows.

As I'm aiming to lower around 60-80mm; the dampers are really designed to run about 25-65 drops, so I think I'm going to have the rods shortened 10-15mm to allow a bit more travel at the lower height...obviously it's not slammed but it would be a more suitable operating range for what I want.

I want lows, with adjustability, comfort for daily driving but improved handling, I know this is asking a lot and will be a compromise but any advise will be welcomed.

I have assumed the lowest part of the car will be the frame; correct me if I'm wrong :)

Well my lower wishbone mounts on the 6n were about 1.5" off the floor, so that's manageable i guess.

The 185/50's give a virtually standard diameter so that should help.

If I can drop 70-80mm with some clearance for bumps and lanes it'll be ok! :)

I am on 165/55/13 tyres down 80 front and 50 ish and my GT gets a lot of country road blasts and daily driving with no issue. So on 14" wheels you will have a little more clearance so it should be fine. I don't know how low the subframe sits when the car is lowered as the only car i had one on was the G40 and that was only 40mm down so i never even thought about it.

Speed bumps are ok too as long as you go slow. The ones that are made out of two smaller bumps (one on either side of the road) are the worst but you just have to take these in the centre of the road or just go over them with one wheel. Never left them go under the middle of your car as they can catch all your undercarriage :-)

I'm runninh 14x6 wrapped in 185/50, down 80mm on ta techs, plenty of ground clearance when you raise the exhaust.

Cool, I'll be running a custom exhaust so will tuck it :)

Spoken to gaz, apparantaly for this kit the rates they'd supply unless I specify would be 275/180

So I may get 160 rears and 225 fronts.

IIRC lotus run stiff damping and softer springs to achieve ride & handling

165/55/13 down 70-80ish subframe has about 2.5\" clerance. Ill measure in the morning unless i can find pics.

That was when everything was fitted new, so nothing has settled.

ye. Had fun on a cambered road in the Cotswolds.

Frame will be coming off soon stripped, repainted, renew the tierod parts as well.

I think ill be getting 250Lbs front, 150Lbs rears

What is a mk2f standard spring rate? Haynes and google are giving me nothing, even Cp search nadda

PM Alex as he's got the Gaz setup on his GT/G40 and his is a road car sensibly lowered on 14"s. If you're going for a Stage 3 frame though up the front spring rates to account for lack of front ARB.

Also note that Cymro's frame is a PPS one, not one of ours - so there are some slight differences, but it'll give you the general gist.

Do you still make the Stage 3 frames andy ??

Surly when the cars lowered the arb is under tension all the time therefor defeting the use of a arb??

ahgggg:/ lmao .. I'm making a simular disign to max's , which keeps the arb and original tca but running a rose joints etc..( stage 2 Subframe )

Only reason for this the standerd set up is just a arb and tca, which is abit scary lol..

No because both wheels move the same amount, meaning the ARB isn't loaded as it will twist in the bushes.
