6n2 fuse 26 blowing

Featured Replies

Hi, this is my first ever post so please bare with me.

I'm having a serious problem with my polo gti X reg 6n2. I noticed my windows were not working one day. I checked the fuses and fuse 26 (10 amp) had blown. Under further investigation it turns out this fuse effects the electric windows, the climatronic climate control, the electric mirrors and the cooling fan. (it does not seem to effect the central locking which i was expecting it to, that still works fine)

Things I have tried so far:

I have put a head light bulb across the fuse carrier, which I believe will light up when the fault is present and not when the fault is not there. (if this won't work let me know) I had the bulb across the fuse and the fault was not there, everything worked fine. Now the fault is back and the bulb is lit, and none of the above components work.

I have fully disconnected both doors and the bulb is still bright indicating to me that the fault is still present.

I unplugged the cooling fan, bulb still bright.

I also unplugged the air con compressor, bulb still bright.

I am now in the process of removing the centre console to see if there is anything else do disconnect to eliminate from the problem.

One thing i did notice before this all begun was the climatronic started flashing on start up with 15 flashes then resumed as normal. I believe this is due to no gas in my air on system, is it at all possible this could blow the fuse?

Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been a real head scratcher for me.

maybe a long shot but i had a similar problem with a fuse, but check the looms for the components that are on the 26 sercuit as they may have over heated and then will be earthing straight out.

if that is the case get some wire that is a higher gauge to the one that is earthing out and re'earth the component. you may have to strip the loom back and this can be messy as they use that stupid stick tidy wrap stuff on every loom.

sorry if this doesnt help but it could be a possibility.

That is what I am expecting to find somewhere. My problem there is there appears to be so much affected by this fuse that it feels like I'm fighting a loosing battle to pin point the fault.

I'm still no further forward in my searching either. I have 2 days off next week which I'm going to throw at the car and try to make some progress.

Yeah thats the problem with multi fuse system's :/ only thing you can do really is check all looms check all earth points and then check all motors and lights affected by the switch, something is obviously playing up its just alot of time to find what that problem is :/

OMG I have exactally the same problem!! I'm so glad its not just my car, Its been like it for over a month now, mine also sets the alarm off as it thinks the windows are open. I've had half my dash apart today and took the seats etc out, I can't find anything wrong with that wiring. Such a headache! Let me know if you find out the problem, I might end up booking mine in a garage, I've had enough wasting my time looking.

between the door and the body of the car is a rubber boot, inside their is a lot of wiring :D i bet in either side their is a broken wire.... normally the brown earth but i had 2 or 3 broke in mine.... fuse 26 controls windows and mirrors all of which are wired through that plug in between the door :D

Thanks, but it's not that, its the first thing i checked.. :( I wish it was that simple but nothing ever is with my car.

To eliminate the doors I unplugged both doors from the A pillar multi plug and the fault was still present. I've got mine book in but that's nearly 3 weeks away. I'm hoping to find someone else to have a look before then.

I know what you mean about headache! I think I need a lot more in depth wiring diagram along with the local knowledge of where the connectors are that are effected.

I swear I've seen this thread already - since Steph's posted the same thing!

If the bulb is glowing brightly, you know it's a direct short to ground and you're getting high current flow.

According to the above diagram I have managed to find connector A20, when I unplug this connector my fuse stops blowing. So I'm now looking for a diagram that will show me the next connector with the pin connections so I can test that. It looks like the wire runs into a large loom which is making it next to impossible to trace the wire to the next connector.

Any help would be appreciate.

Thank so much for the previous diagram so far it's leading me in the correct direction.

Hi, I've just trawled through all the diagrams and from the connector A20 it feeds the c/locking pump, climatic control panel, aircon high pressure sensor, if fitted the radio/navigation control display unit and it goes to connector T9 by the front interior light to feed the sunroof motor and rain sensor

So I guess, remove all of that and see if your bulb still glows man..

Thinking maybe the high pressure sensor has something to do with it - hence the 15 flashes?

Is anyone able to point me in the right direction for the air con high pressure sensor. I had a quick scan earlier to no avail.

Removing high pressure sender -G65-

NoteThe high pressure sender -G65- can be removed without extracting the refrigerant from the refrigerant circuit.

– Pull off connector -1-.

– Unbolt high pressure sender -2-.

– Renew seal. tighten to 8Nm

I think it's #24 on this drawing

13) 8E0260749 round seal 10,8X1,82 /

24) 1J0959126 listed @ 28.5 €uros from VW)

#16) - High pressure sender -G65-

q Removing → Chapter. See above

q Torque setting: 8 Nm

q Renew O-ring (note part number). 13) 8E0260749 round seal 10,8X1,82 /

q The high pressure sender -G65- can be removed without extracting the refrigerant from the refrigerant circuit.

q The high pressure sensor -G65- supplies information to radiator fan control unit -J293- and engine control unit.

Function:

q Switches radiator fan -V7- to next higher speed when pressure increases in refrigerant circuit.

q The high pressure sender -G65- cannot be checked via the Climatronic self-diagnosis, but only via the engine control unit self-diagnosis.

q Check high pressure sender -G65- → Chapter.

q Switches off the air conditioner when the pressure is high (for example, insufficient engine cooling).

q Switches off the air conditioner when the pressure is too low (for example, loss of refrigerant).

That is an extensive amount of info, thank you so much. I will give that a look first thing in the morning. I'll keep you posted.

Spanner in the works.... I've gone out to my polo this morning to unplug my aircon high pressure sensor to determine whether that was causing my fault. I've set up my bulb across my fuse holder, and low and behold the fault has gone. Windows, mirrors, climate control working.

How ever I heard a clicking behind the centre consol, it has come to my attention that the interior heat adjustment motor is not operating as I believe it should. I have unplugged that motor, now I need to test drive the car for a few days until the fault comes back, or until I believe that is the problem. I can't get an instant diagnosis obviously as the fault was not present at this time.

I think my polo is just playing games with me.
