Just for a random bit on info.

Lot's of young drivers my step son knows have managed to get reduced insurance because they put their mum down as a named driver on their own policy.

Cheaper than getting themselves insured on their parents insurance. Makes no sense to me, but try it.

The older, female driver will always be considered a lower risk and hopefully bring your price down.

!m!

Just gotta look around my first year was on a full licence was 900 (2009) and I've never paid more than 1400. first i was with Quinn direct then Chris Knott and now Adrian Flux.

Did he tell them he sold crack for his occupation??

I noticed you put TP (third party?) if so try fully comp, also theres a new scheme where you can have a monitoring box added to your car which monitors your usage and you can get a discount. And as mentioned have someone else on your insurance to bring it down. My insurance goes down by about 25% by having my wife on my policy, my brother has our older sister on his and it brings it down a lot. But, on the other hand I'm in my 30's so my weekly shop costs more then my insurance.

1600 for a new polo gti i have 3 points a crash and 0 no claims bonus :)

Personally think they just pluck numbers from wherever they feel. £1600 on a 1.6 polo GTi or £1200 on a 2.8 VR6 Golf . . . :retard:

that tells you a lot about a mk3 vr6....

put my details into a comparison site declared everything scrolled down to the bottom where there was my worst quote of ........wait for it 10k :-(

I had this problem last year when i was insuring my first car. I had a 1litre mk4 polo, 95 reg. and my insurance was £4000 on my own.

After 9 months of passing my test i got a 1.9TDi sport 9n3 polo and my insurance is £2200.

Now i know the engine is a lot bigger, and id expect the insurance to be loads more expensive, but i reckon its down to the cars safety factor.

For example my mk4 polo didnt have ABS, Power steering, TC or anything fancy like that.

So that might be the problem!
