I've done it on a few little bits and it worked alright. Might want to give them a scrub with a small brush at some point.

Yeah, they got rinsed in brake cleaner after I stripped them and they've had a cursory scrub with some 80 grit sandpaper before they went in.

I normally would but my sandblaster is at my brother's, so I thought I'd give this a try.

Might do sometime. I tried anodising once, which is basically the same thing backwards to colour ali. It didn't come out bad, but it's not cheap.

Electrolysis worked well for the bits I've used it on for my rebuild, and all for 99p of soda crystals and some electricity.

I could have done this cheaper, dishes wouldn't have smelt great though so I invested in another washing up bowl

Battery charger, old roasting tin as the sacrifical anode and a big plastic bucket. Need to brillo pad the crusty bits off, but found it worked well.

Nice, might have to try that. Just need to find a plastic bucket big enough to put the transit in!
