I discovered if I run a frame in the mk3 the 6n engine won't fit with the 6n sump.

I know Simon has fitted a mk2 sump and pump for clearance..just wondering how others have overcome this? Sump notches etc?

Might just not run a frame :s

i just run the mk3 sump and pump on an AFH. in fact you just need to swap the pickup pipes over the pump is the same.

FYI this only applys to early spec AFH bottom ends, the later spec (98-) has a very different oil pump setup.

I have a chain driven one, not the one built into the crank seal housing.

Yeah you can bolt the early pickup on to your pump as long as yours is the chain drive pump

Are you sure yours is chain drive tho arris? Thought yours was a later spec car?

i don't see why not, the bottom end is then effectively the same as a mk3.

Nope AEE mate

obviously you'll need the mk3 dipstick.

sump capacity is 3.5L technically although will vary depending on oil cooler or not.

Don't forget, because the engine mount on the block is different you'll need a conversion plate to mount it using all the bolts.

I might be getting a few laser cut soon if you need one.

Strange the 6n is 3.5 but deeper? Lol.

G40 sump be ok?

g40 sump is exactly the same.

the depth of the sump is irrelevant to capacity in some ways - it's not necessarily full.

if you email them about a subby they should be able to make you a custom one to fit around the sump. been done before by a few people

You missed out harris I just sold a stage 2 nearly brand new a week or so ago And a subframe will fit with the mk3 sump and pick up on the 6n engine as I did it with my mk2 need afh man

to be honest, id rather have his AEE than an AFH.

AFH makes a better noise though on top end! loved the sound of mine under the bridge doing burnouts at the pod!

everything mk3 is pretty much obsolete at the dealer. you might find one still in a dealer on transfer maybe?

True, our supplier can be a slacker!

A custom Stage 2 frame built on the car is the same price as an off-the-shelf one, but you'd need to do without your car for a while - which might not be an option when it's your daily.

Or mod the sump - e.g. modded AFH sump to clear Stage 3 subframe:

If it were me I'd fit the Mk3 sump so you've got sensible ground clearance.

yeah tbh, you saw how low my 16v was, had more to go, and id still scraped the AFH sump even though the roads round here are ok! id fit a mk3 sump anyway!

I might have a pick up knocking about arris i'll have a look up the garage in my box of shit. So this engine isn't the original for this car? Isn't yours a late spec car? It had the late spec clocks didn't it?

I didn't realise the early Sumps held the same amount of oil as the later ones, hmm I may try an early sump on mine
