Definately needs to be lowered, couldn't stand my gti at standard height, loads of body roll. You might Aswell get coilovers, then you can find the perfect height and there not exactly expensive. You could buy springs and it be too low or not enough, springs normally aren't cheap either.

Car looks decent, but I'm not feeling the bonnet bra, looks a bit barry imo, even more so on a standard car :)

£120p/m on a 1.2 9N Polo, 02 plate.

That's with Direct Line, but it is my first car.

So in February I'll have 1yrs no claims, then give it a little while after that once I'm 21 and I'll see how much insurance on a decent 6n2 or 6n2 GTi would set me back. For now I'm starting to do some bits and bobs to my 9N.

holy sh*t that's cheap! i paid nearly £3k for my insurance on my fisrt car :-/ (1.9 SDi 6n2)

but it has halved year on year since then which is good

i think my insurance is £900 fully comp on my GTi, (mum and dad as named drivers also) and aswell as, i'm on student insurance which also helps

Most people I assume also add mods which will add to their insurance cost and means that less companies will insure them, whereas your car is a standard gti.

Greenlight are the way foreward. I was paying £1900 tpft with three points coilovers, wheels and arches declared without swap declared then moved it there to greenlight who now cover me for EVERYTHING (coilies, wheels, radio, sub, steering wheel, wheels arches and importantly swap) for £800 fully comp

the only thing I'm worried is the gearbox if i lower it :/ my gearbox is notchy as it is and 5th crunches at speed

I'm not entirely fussed about the body roll factor, but i would be fussed if i got colies (which i wont) because when ever i see a car on colies, i just see it bouncing along the road and i dont wanna feel like i'm driving an original mini

the only thing i want is a slightly more sporty stance, just a bit lower, maybe 10/15mm more (i got 205/65/16 on the rear, so i dont wanna scrub)

the bloke across the road from me recommended it to me, as he was in the car valet business. i always used Autoglym and this seems better to me, easier to work with and its not chalky

but i'll be interested in that because it says it removes swirl marks, if not, when i get a few quid i'll get the whole car mopped

i always spot a dub by that, but when i drove a mini at my dad's work, i drove it for 30mins and after 5 i was fed up of the ride, but like you side, each to their own

thanks buddy, that means alot, i have! i spent all summer building this bad boy

it was the time mostly for me, because when i sold my old car, it funded this entire build, so technically it didn't cost me anything or very little at all

i was thinking of a drop, but i dont want to go too low, if i can get some 25mm / 30mm springs i'll be happy, i dont want colies because i just replaced the rear shockers with genuine new ones, and i dont want to bounce everywhere i go

plus with the drop, I'm worried about the rears, as i have 195's on the front and 205's on the rear

basically, I'm driving to Swindon in the new year from london (too meet my flatmate from uni) and i wanted to get a few things checked out before i left, and this is what i done...

i replaced the rear wiper motor, as it was shot; cracked rubber seal and water entered the motor and seized it up.

what it looked like, stuck in that position

i went to a scrap yard, had a look at a few 6n polo's and mk4 golfs for the same motor, but to no prevail. however, i went to another one just around the corner where i had been a few months before, and the same Seat Arosa was there from before, and has the same motor! £20 later, i replaced it with mine.

i wanted to check the pedal box to see if it was ok, due to the long journey i have ahead and the one on my old car busted around similar mileage.

a few goodies; new clutch cable, brake pedal switch, new clips for the under tray and a new auxiliary belt (not in pic) as the old one was getting a bit noisy. i also added 0.5L of oil to my gearbox

only little niggles left are that the washer bottle leaks above the n/s fog light and the front shockers may need replacing, and that's about it!

Awesome - hope you had a great Christmas man! Looking smart as ever :) you have a perfect excuse to get front Coilovers and rear springs now . The ride on budget Coilovers isn't bad unless your scrapping and on the bumpstops all the time but I'm sure you Won't be.

I'm sure you can find a set of Coilovers second hand and that move freely, then just the fact of finding some rear springs too in the same boat. Most likely eBay buying. :) best of luck...

its just the whole "buy cheap, buy twice" thing, if i was gonna get some, i would get some proper new ones; as i know a few people/read on here that people get a bargain set, then they seize up and leak etc. etc.

but don't you worry folks! lows is on the menu

Agreed they are cheap and good for lows but if you want prober Coilovers like track ready kw is your make. Lad I know has done over 80,000 mines in his BMW and they are still free and he hasn't even greased them. Brilliant.

Up to you dude, buy a whole kit and split them.

you've a lot of work put in here mate keep it up! big difference from a lot of people who just put in coilover's and flash wheels, nice to see a real effort being made
