getting my car ready for summer, gone to lower it ...shit seized! I've managed to spilt the 2 rings (bottom ones free) but the adjuster ring witch the spring sits on not moving, I've socked it in wd40 and plusgas, even got a 4ft scaffold pole on the c spanner still nowt. any ideas? :(

Wd40 isn't the best item for this, try some penetrating oil and/or frost shock.

Then as above, get beating, also recommend trying to crack it both ways to get it started.

was also using plus gas penetrating oil, and tried the other way too no luck

Is personally look into getting new rings and take an angle grinder to the current ones.

They'll come free.

Penetrating fluid and a punch carefully will shock the corrosion and get it moving.

Work it back and forth with plenty of lube....

You're trying to shock it free not stroke it, try putting a nail in a wall by bending a pole over it

It's corroded.

You don't need a massive hammer either, shocks will break the corrosion down.

Plus big hammer will just fuck the rings.

heated my old 6n coilies up to unsieze them and then wire brushed them. were fine after that

update: got pissed off, got a lump hammer on it ,didn't work, heated it up, didn't work, soaked it in penetrating oil and cleaned the threads but still nothing, its like superglued

Cleaning the threads will only help it to move after you've got it free, it's still stuck where it is.

Drown it in penetrating fluid and try again another day. If you can put more and more on while waiting.

Use a nice punch and an average sized hammer, hit the ring back and forth, rather than trying one way only. Also taps on it up/down may break some of the crap up.

How hot did you get it?

I had the same issue with mine, ended up removing them from the car and soaking them in a big bowl of coca cola for a few days, the acidic nature of it looosens the corrosion, makes them easier to free up.
