my friend has a mk5 polo and it seems a warning light on his dashboard is flasshing and it beeps 3 times everytime he starts the car? I've looked in the handbook and it says its something to do with his brakes.. all his brakes are fine? anyideas

Do the pads come with a brass insert in so when it contacts the disc a light comes on? If so, then look at the disc's, Is there a brown line around them?

nope pads were replaced and still this light flashes and beeps 3 times its like the wanring handbrake light that little exclimation mark in the circle

If his pads were replaced, remove the fault.

Or he could be moving off with the hand brake on slightly. I do it some times

it could be but it makes the 3 beeping niose as soon as u start the car?

i think that if the fault appeared (causing the light/beeping) and was then fixed (new brakes) then it will need to be plugged into a vagcom to tell the warning buzzer to stop buzzing

the problem appeard before the pads were replaced ..sorry i should have said that so i changed them and the problem persists

yeah thats what i mean, it probably appeared to tell you that the pads needed doing. Then has persisted because it doesnt know that they have been done (if that makes sense) so you will need to use vagcom to clear the fault code thats linked to the brakes

ahhhh i follow you!! ill get a fruiend to plug it in tommorow and ill post results!

As long as the car has a can network then you can plug them into a universal code reader and remove the fault. I'm sure the mk5 has 1.

The MK5's don't have a pad sensor on them. Pretty sure if you take the front or back ABS sensor OFF. Or brake fluid level, it'll be either one..

may sound stupid but have yu got your hand break all the way down as that makes the bleep noise come on,, just a thought tho....

Mine did the same in my 2002 polo with the circle and exclamation mark and it was the brake/clutch fluid resivour was empty due to a leaky slave cylinder

Isn't it the sensor on the brakes telling you your pads are warn...? I had this one mine and checked the pads and are extremely low.

Mines part of the last '99 model with extra everything before the new shape took place.
