we have a vtec engine at college, coupled wth boost, and we've mapped it so the turbo comes in at the same time as vtec, massive win!!!

its like being punched in the face

I would rather be punched in the face.

all i will say is dont knock it till youve tried it, the k20 came in other models other that the fn2 shape youve pictured and the fn2 is considered to be a bit crap due to the weight and set up of the car, this guys wanting 200bhp+ from a 2.0, youve got a big enough task and a massive wedge of cash to spend to get a vauxhall redtop (been there done that) or a duratec n/a over 200bhp, yes it can be done and 250bhp is do able in these engines but just think about it, the k20 is 197bhp standard, if your putting it into somthing other than a honda then a custom exhaust is a definate, add to that hondata ecu and a good air feed and fuel set up and your easly good for 250bhp, and thats without throttle boddies or internal work, the figures speak for themselves in my eyes, also if you going to be modding a redtop or duratec youl most likely be upping the rev limit for your kind of racing, the k20 is already 2k above thoes as standard, try checking out some honda sites and see what some people have done, tdi north is a great place to start, they build some killer engines

Peak figures are only half the story, he's already said that a v-tec lump wouldn't be suitable for his needs due to the shit way the power is delivered

Any 2.0 engine that makes more than 200BHP is going to be peaky...the difference is a VTEC is driveable low down...a 250BHP red top would sacrifice a fair bit of bottom end...maybe more so than the Honda lump...maybe not...would love to see how a 250bhp K20 vs. 250bhp red top worked out torque wise...

Everyone gets sucked into chasing numbers, fit a diesel haha

I was thinking about a diesel. I suppose a Vtec or even turbo would be ok. But I don't want to be waiting for power I want it instant. I was thinkin a supercharger. But I'll go flat out in first an peakin 2nd towards the end of straights etc. diesel don't like high revs an get good figures u need big turbos an that's when lag happens.

ABF + supercharger for low revs + big turbocharger for high revs

problem solved
