hello i am in need urgent help, i have just dowloaded the 'VCDS Release 11.11' software from ross tech, firstly have i downloaded the correct one to be used on my 9n ? my plan is to use it on my airbag, engine and braking light on the dash, will this software be able to show me the fault, then i rectify it and then clear the code ?

my second question is what interface cable do i get to use on my car ? obviously i know it has to be a USB at one end and a 16pin OBD at the other, but my friend says i need to be spending around £300 on the cable, but can i not just get a £10-15 one from ebay ? what is the difference ?

You will need a fully licensed version of VCDS to work on your car as it's a full CAN bus car, the shareware/download version will only give you limited functions on the engine ecu and only read the fault codes on the the other systems

All you will need is on the Ross tech site

No you have downloaded the "lite" program, to get full functions you will need to pay Ross Tech the money to unlock the program and get the full functions ie airbag, abs etc
