Basicaly i need to remove the ATS classics on the G40, currently they have bmw locking wheel nuts, but I've lost the dam key!. I've tried a few things, even my brothers bmw key, turns out to be the same spline but smaller

Any thoughts? Wacking the usual socket on them is a no no, as classics have a poking out middle section in the wheel very close to the bolt holes.

cover the wheel up and weld something on the end of the nut!! works everytime

They look like tricky fuckers to get off by alternative measures. That style of nut rings a bell though..... Rover?

From memory, there's a key number stamped in the base of the hole the key goes into. Might need a little wire brush and a torch to see it though!

things is all the keys are coded and different, what makes it even worse is that the code is hidden inside the wheel usualy they just differ in size, worth a shot though, but i need them off like... yesterday

I've got some snap on sockets that are like the irwin bolt removers but work internally rather than externally. Other option it to chisel it loose, or hammer a torx/spline into it. Are they torqued up properly or just tight with a bar?

I've got the same and can't see them gripping on these, the heads are really short.

Drill the fekker out.........

Do the other 3 bolts up as tight as possible to relive the pressure on it, then use a chisel and lump hammer to shock the locking bolt loose

take it to a BMW dealer and then buy a new key. will only be a couple of quid. and if they are nice they will let you have the one that they use and order on in to replace theirs.

if not they are quite easy to drill out..

There tight, but not mega tight i dont think, tryed drilling one of them, the only bit that would touch them was small, 10 minutes of drilling got about 1cm

Tryed hammering bits inside the drilled hole, torx bits just bent around, allen keys just snap..no local bmw :(

I drilled one out.. took me about an hour :)

Why not just get some random bolt and stick it in there with epoxy resin? then just un-bolt

Can you concentrate heat on the bolt head and beat fuck out of a spline/tx/Allen into it lol

the largest tx/allen i have is 60, and thats still to small (on another note a tx 55 was perfect for un-doing my headbolts )

Matt, sticking a bolt in there requires a nut or something on the end, thing is the nut comes lose before the wheel bolt does...:(

tryed that, although i could re-attempt with a longer bolt and more nuts

it sounds like you just dont have the tools to do the job, do you know anyone with a welder? the welder option is the easiest and will take no more than 30minutes to do

if not any garage will do it if they have a welder

Drilling them out is easiest and cheapest surely?, you just need decent dill bits

Tried eBay or your local Freecycle group?

lock nut remover kit will shift them easy.

We used to have a set in work (needs replacing).

Basicly they have "teeth" like sharp grooves that dig in as you hit them on with a hammer, stick your ratchet or brace or whatever your using on the other end, and undo. Eazzay.

this ! had a right job with some on my old RA's these like dig in and thread on, easy peasy

Have you tried going to your BMW garage to actually buy the key.. they are like 3 quid or something.. you will have to take the car over as there are about 9 different versions but they have a box with them all in. just find the correct one and order it :)

got a lazer wheel lock bolt remover, the reverse threaded ones, thing is they dont work to well without a airgun

Worth a shot though, just got to be careful it doesnt dig into the side off the wheels.
