First near death experience

Featured Replies

had the car on the road a week or so now, i decided to have a trip up to sheffield last night to see a mate, on the way back i aquaplaned on a bend on the bypass and spun the car 1 n half times and almost hit the central reservation backwards.

needless to say I've not gone over 30mph since while its wet :p

just thought id share that with you :p

Aquaplanning is not fun :? - can catch you out without warning - Did this in my AMG on the M40 - only a few seconds in a straight line - but your right - it does make you slow down a bit.

Harris can vouch for standing water.....

yeah I'm lucky i gripped before i ended up in his position :/

ha yeah must admit I'm not fond of driving in the rain at the minute, especially in the dark with mk3 headlight not being able to see puddles haha

I thought mk3 lights were amazingly good after driving a corrado for a few weeks! Actually scary havging that much power and not being able to see anything! Pretty much ruined the driving experience. It was that bad that I was actually happy when I got back in my polo!

I just don't like the dark and rain tbh haha, coming home from work at 10.30 nailing massive puddles over 70mph isn't cool after crashing lol

yeah when i drove into work today i took the same bypass and i was actually terrified with it still raining

^^ Does seem a little rapid considering earleir experiences. Especially with the shonky handling of a standard mk3

It's fine haha there's just odd puddles about, it's not solid and no compliant like the 6n, & a mk3's handling is perfectly manageable unless you drive like a idiot, it's fine for me, holds on well enough for road use

OSRAM Nightbreakers.

Suspension brakes and POWER, then I'll make it so I can see hahaha

surely it should be this order: visibility, brakes, suspension, power? they are cheap and take five mins to fit though

haha yeah I'll order some up :)

Yeah the 6n was just a bad situation, a few people had been that way home from work and said it nearly went on them, in standard modern good cars.

Yay let's get into a fucking Internet argument, I'm going to work

What are these nighbreakers of which you speak?

they seem to just be a bright bulb to me :p

I've had a little look. And indeed they are. Which is nice to see since mk2 ones are gash at best. Any one know the bulb type for a mk2 polo saloon. I'm thinking H4, but dont have a reference handy

Couple of arse twitching moment on the motorway this morning with cars hitting puddles and loosing it in front of me.

I just ploughed on, bit of wheel soo once or twice but nothing serious. Unless you count people travelling in your spray with no lights on.

people travelling in your spray with no lights on.

what is wrong with people :|

I've got a set of Scirocco fog lamps on order and I'm awfully tempted to wire them up to the full beams. I'm trying desperately to find a video on YouTube of a guys truck that has near 1000 watts of extra lighting power on his truck; they make the road like daylight for about half a mile... Also I can vouch for how bad MK2 lights are even with the centre lamps on late models lit up; I've driven by plenty of people with all four full beams on and none of them batted an eyelid.

was alot of standing water on the way to work for me today too, some on bends that are on a national speed limit road aswell! fortunately my cat is on its way out and a chunk was blocking my exhaust so it slowed me down

these are what I'm talking about: Osram Night Breaker + H4 i have the original ones i think to these what are slightly better designed according to the description

They will be H4's mate and i can highly reccoment the nightbreakers :D

Had some 100watt items on the polo previously.... uprated headlight loom is a good mod also. I seemed to fuck up and not get it working mind... lol.

Oh, elaborate.

And do any H4s fit?

may have to invest in some of those, no doubt they do them in H7 for the 6n :)

osram nightbreakers are awesome, H4 i think in Polo's. The ones in my 'loon are some variation of the H4, big giant bulb, looks like something from a vintage motorcycle lol
