has anyone ran a g40 charger on a carbed mk2?

Featured Replies

Hey been thinking about this for a laugh,

I have a hk solid lifter engine atm,

If i put a decompression plate on and bolted a g40 chargee to it with an intercooler bla bla,

Then put a renault 5 carb on, would it work???

Just standard charger pulleys ect so not that much power to start with

The videos had me cracking up when i first saw them lol

theres a guy I spoke to on facebook had a pierburg 2E running with a G40 blower on possibly an AAV.. he reckoned it worked quite well. He was not from the uk, i'll see if I can find him.

Souds cool! Cheeers!

What about suck through using a eaton sc? Should be easier to setup and a lot cheaper, gains would be smaller than a properly set up blow through set up mind

There was a guy on here, sometime ago, that had a mk2 breadvan, similar colour to your mk2 avatar,

did the exact same setup on a 1 litre (hydro head tho') as you've mentioned, not sure tho' if it worked or was ever all plumbed in? should have a pic somewhere........

Also!! a UK chap with a MK1 Scirocco had a HK with a turbo setup...

Better find some pics eh ;o)

Fuck decomp just wang 2 HGs in

Was that the lad that was trying to sell the kits to eaton any polo lump, but never seemed to run his own with it plumbed in?

I'm not too fussed about megapower as itll be going g40 next year anyway, but i wanna try this and see if it will actually work! Apart from the r5 carb the rest of the bits ill need anyway lol

Would help supercharger effieciency too as the fuel would help seal between the (apex-prob not the right term) seals. Could cause premature wear though as it effectively a de-greaser in comparison with engine oil.

This is how were rolling with Alison. Fuck spending money to find out its gone bang. I have a stack of good used for no miles head gaskets!

Oh and re-using bolts!

Ill probs just chuck a decomp plate on, got a spare engine atm anyway so if it goes pop hey ho

Why waste money on a decomp plate if the engine is only going to be in for a relitively short time and not be making big power? It's not some thing that would be used on the G when you get it

If it were me I'd just wack an extra hg on, strap an eaton to it with an SU bolted the inlet of it and pipe the outlet straight up to a adaptor plate where the original carb used to sit. For the ignition maybe look at modifying parts from a early saab turbo dizzy

Surely ignition wise itd stay the same? No need for the saab dizzy?

Id rather use a g charger, smaller and less hassle. No idea what carb to use i just thought renault 5 was easiest

Oh really? Gay i wanted to run it on standard

Yep. The little shit did a disappearing act sometime ago, owing the guy who actually built it a load of cash, he was part of our club, not been seen since the guy went to get his money off him.

It did work for a while but the tool that owned it broke it. Roumour has it the cars layer up in a secure car park in the port talbot/Bridgend area.

lol I've seen huzey about bridgend a few times in his mx5.

decomp plates are only around £30 now

and has anyone got a pic of this saab dizzy as i may actually have one

i bought a vac dizzy off someone on here and the vacuum pot is completely different to my others and it has a vac feed on the top and on the bottom so I'm thinking it is one for boost and vacuum :)

Pete: that sounds like the one. I think the vac bit will fit onto the polo dizzy but not had a chance to try it.

We thought he was dead. Lol. Still being a hair dresser then.

The vac bits already on a polo dizzy I just need to change the drive bit so I can fit it on my afh

I will post a pic of it later so you can see

Comeone guys more advice on charging my hk with standard ignition/dizzy

Comeone guys more advice on charging my hk with standard ignition/dizzy

Really you need the saab vac advance/retard bit or mappable ignition to allow for boost.

I doubt the standard vac advance bit will allow for boost pushing against It plus it has no method of retarding ignition inline with boost.

hw do the metro turbo and renault 5 turbo people do it? they dont have mappable ignition

MAXMAX where are you when your needed ffs!! this was one of his projects!
