Audi A4 B5 Avant.

Featured Replies

I usually just lurk about on this forum, know a few people on here!

Just put my proper wheels back on the Audi, ready for DC12 tomorrow. I used to run these all the time, but I live near/have to drive past Thames Valley Police HQ, so as soon as they saw these they pulled me over and told me off! I kinda forgot to tell my insurance about them...

Anyway...

It's my daily driver, 1.9TDi 90bhp! Cheapo TA Techniks coilovers, wheels are Dare DR-RS 17x8.5 ET15 with 205/40R17, and 17X10 ET20 with 225/45R17.

Next plans for it are to spray the insides of the headlights black, get the rear arches flared out, and put some 235/40R17s on the rears!

:unibrow: I love it!!!

If you don't mind me asking how much did you buy it for? What's tax and insurance like?

I paid £1475 for it. It had 148k on it, but it's pretty tidy! It's not at 171k too. When I bought it the climate control unit didn't work properly (replaced for £30) the ABS light was on (fixed that!) and the air bag light was on (put tape over it for now...) and the speedo sometimes doesn't work, which I'm in the process of fixing!

All in all, it's a decent runner!

The tax is about £125 6months, which is due at the end of this month :( and the insurance isn't too bad either! I think it's group 11 though.

That seems pretty good, I'm looking at getting a diesel in the near future due to spending £80 a week on petrol for work etc I desperately need a densel!! Seeing what's about and I do like te audis!

That looks epic!

Took a few more pictures of it on my way home from work.

Haven't changed anything on it though!

I really need to sort the rear fitment so the back end can go lower! Had a look at fitting some camber shims on the back today, but I'll need to order some replacement bolts for the hub, as they will all need an extracter tool on them.

Almost decided on a tyre size too! I think 245/35s would sit best on it...

Took a few more pictures of it on my way home from work.

Is that Finmere Aerodrome in the background?

Yeah it is! I don't live far from there... why?

Had a trip to the scrap yard today to grab some bits for my mate's Polo 6N. Spotted another A4 B5 hiding away, so I grabbed the grill rings as they're silver! So now I can swap them about until I make my mind up!

Quite like the silver ones again. Atleast I have spares so I can play around with them. ;)

Yeah it is! I don't live far from there... why?

Just curious. I did a track day there about two and a half years ago, recognised it in the background.

Ahh I see. I had no idea they'd ever used it for a track!

This is everything i want my merc to be.

So the other day after work I drove down to north London to pick up two 235/40R17s for the rears, to replace the 225/45s. I thought I was getting two Nexens, but it turned out to be a Wanli and a Nexen! Not bothered for £50 though! ;)

So I got those fitted, and wound the rear coilovers down a bit. Looked much better! But still needed to flare out the rear arches as they scrubbed a lot!

Few days later this arrives in the post:

So I got to work on the rear arches, and this is the result:

Excuse the bad, grainy pictures!

It rides so much better now. Doesn't scrub on EVERY bump like it did before, only little ones! Need to look into getting some camber on the back to tuck them in a bit more, then the stance is done!

very very nice mate!
