Persuade me! I'm in two frames of mind.

The mk3 are nice looking but the interior is to old. I want a modern interior haha

Saxo's aint exactly cutting edge. lol.

Fit newer seats then.

all you would need is someone who can make some subframes and you can have any front seats you want.

I prefer the mk3 dash to the saxo's one. at least i now have a temp gauge and not just a light.

I wasn't comparing the dash to a saxo one, I was comparing the MK3 polo to the Mk5 polo

the insurance difference between a 1 litre and a 1.4 will not be huge, the 1.4 still isn't fast but its more capable (you said you weren't a boy racer) buy an SE 8v and enjoy having most of the toys (aside from air-con) tons better built than the saxo. contrary to what others said I went from an early polo to a 6n2 and only now am I properly loving the 6n2, its way quicker than my mk2*, more comfortable, more reliable, allows me to play a bit more and is calm enough for me to relax if required. looking at standard cars the 6n2 will be the better car if not faster its easier to live with. the mk2 was more fun to drive but when I wasn't in the mood for yobbing about it was a rattly nightmare.

*mine is a 1.4 16v 100hp, of course its bloody quicker than a 55hp mk2.

Just taken the jump from a mk3 to a 6n2 bar the problems got to say I love it so much 'nicer' to drive but now where near as fun infact not even close. But none the less it a cracking car in my opinion (1.4 8v)

In regards to the Saxo... I wouldn't get too attached and I reackon you'll be happy which ever model polo you go for..

I had a 1.1 Saxo before I passed my test took it for two drives on my provisional first was to the local tesco for some bay parking lessons second was too a.g Evans scrap metal, piece of shite they deserve to be binned sorry to say..

Matt, you chucked the 6n2 into a corner hard and lifted off yet? slides out and goes onto three wheels. great fun.

Hahah not yet dude wheel nearly fell off the other day a week in to owning it, as soon as that's fixed I'll give it a good thrashing!

So have I decided on how good the handling is prematurely or are they actually pants? Mines on coils etc so hoping its not too bad

Edited by matt-c

you might not have as much lift-off with coilies but they are a very capable yet safe handling car with standard suspension, I was gonna fit coilies but I decided it was more fun having leans and some chuckability of the rear.

Ah I see! Yeah they came with the car but may aswell be shocks and spring as thier rusted to shit! I'll fix it and have a play :)

this song couldnt speak more truth about the saxos in my area,

tbh there not that fast my old 1.3 golf would piss all over the the saxo's even the vtr

Really? VTR is a warm hatch, you're sure you weren't lined up agains a West Coast Saxo or something?

Oh my god get out of polos arses!

Clubpolo..

Saxo or polo?

You drive a polo.

I'd have a saxo vtr/vts, not a 1.1 though, but yeah you can buy a 6n2 with PAS/eleccy windows etc.

Might not be as nippy but still a nicer place to be, don't get caught up in the people who are massively biased towards older polos, a 6n2 isn't a bad car, it just depends what you want the car for

jolly good show harris, older polo's are good but newer one's are just a better place to spend time.

or you could break the mould and buy something like an alfa 33 (if you can find one)

Early polos are amazing because it's all I could afford to buy/insure when I was 17 now I'm in huge denial completely blind to anything else and spend all my time convincing people they're amazing ;) bit of a summary of a few on here haha

Also a 1.3 golf? Beat a vtr? Did your golf have a charger or was the saxo broken??

You might as well stick with the saxo for a year/til it breaks than spend the extra money on changing over. You'll want to drive the polo before you decide that it's the way to go.

Think the saxo 1.1 is 60hp? That's the same as the 1.4 8v 6n/6n2 and the saxo weighs less...

I'd test drive the 6n2 and if it was too slow or basic to get on with I'd stick with the saxo for a year to try and build up some NCB, and then look at higher spec 6n2's

If the 6n2 is too basic then what ever you do, don't fall for this con of "early polo's are amazing" or you truely will be disappointed

speed and 1.1 saxo shouldnt be in the same sentence tbh lol are you a boy racer/chav or something?

My mum drives a saxo and she isn't a chav or boy racer. Some people buy cars simply as a mode of transport, rather to use as a fashion accessory or 'a life style choice' as the emo's say. Having driven a fair few early polo's and a couple of saxo's I'd say there was very little in it in terms of build quality ect, the peddle's are in a fucking horrendous position tho

tbh there not that fast my old 1.3 golf would piss all over the the saxo's even the vtr

Absolute bollocks (unless the 1.3 had a charger on it), I had a 1.3 mk2 golf and it was slow as fuck, it wasn't even what you could call 'nippy', it was just slow as fuck. Some poor bloke was probably poddaling along in his vtr on the way to the shops, when some tool in a mk2 golf comes screaming up behind him, does some epicly stupid overtaking manoeuvre, and then blasts off into the sun set bragging about how he beat a saxo in a race

If you did line up along aside one and win, I have a feeling they might of been humoring you

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and currently have a Saxo 1.1 SX however I have been looking at polos. I love the style of the 6n2 from interior to exterior BUT its slower than my saxo and doesn't have central locking or electric windows like my saxo. So I'm in two frames of mind whether to keep the Saxo or get a polo and install remote central locking and try and fit electric windows if possible? If anyone knows if that it is possible and if there is a guide or I can get some help then thank you in advance.

I am 17 and been driving a month therefore a 1.4 is out of the question.

Haha!

I had a 106, it had nothing and got abused, plenty of off roading! It was great fun.

Why would you need PAS in a saxo/polo? They both weigh sweet fa Just learn to drive properly. Basically never turn the wheel unless your rolling.

As for electric windows, do you honestly think that waiting for an electric motor to undo your window to exactly the right point is quicker/easier?!

Leccy windows are just more to go wrong. In a race between my arm and the electric motor i'd piss it!

Only time i'd ever thought of needing PAS was in my E30 BMW 325i, purely for correcting any oversteer. It did have a tendancy to snap back the other way.

Either get on and love your "slightly equipped" saxo or buy a poverty spec polo and get into the driver involvement. My mate reguarly praises how well his 6N sits through the twists and he absolutely hates it as a car.

Keep the saxo till you have experience and ncb, then get a gti or tdi :)

106's are amazing for abuse
