Anyone in the know on elephant insurance?

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm doing renewal quotes,

Elephant came in at about 1250 for mods and all, however that was ina bracket of 50 to 0 mm lows!

My car is down to about 65ish front 55ish back... so if i need he second bracket 50mm or lower..however

The quote is fine with the 50 above, but when i check the other box it say they need more info on the car but i havnt managed to get through yet as its taking forever and i stat work at 7 so too early and peak b time I'm home.

So I'm 20...anyone know if they have a lowering aginst age restriction or does the price go alo higher,

Any info really?

cheers

Well Admiral who own Elephant don't really like cars lowered more that 50mm. Tbh, they can't really measure what you have dropped if you do have an accident or something and yours isn't that far off the bracket anyway, Least you've insured that it is lowered in some way!.

Hope this helps.

I'm all for declaring mods and shit, but fuck telling them your cars lower than that bracket by 1cm

I asked on the phone. Up to 50mm was fine, wouldn't insure 50-130 hahah

Same as. Beside lowered 50mm from what? The ride height it left the factory with, or the ride height it had before you powered it? If its on some thing like 16 year old original springs and shocks there's a good chance it's lost height through them going saggy any way.

If you have non standard wheels and/or tyres then the height of the car will already of changed before you lowered it so the factory ride height measurements would be useless anyway so how would they have any idea how much it was lowered by as they would have no datum measurement to compare it to?

Tbh as long as your not blatantly taking the piss with this kinda thing I can't see how they could prove it either way, and if they did it would probably cost them more than just paying out and be done with it

What about 140mm?

I had the same thing last week! Lols!

Yeah they wont insure if its lowered more that 50mm but as above i can't see how they expect to measure it.

I also agree with the claim you've only lowered it 50mm from when you got it lol.

And btw they're good on price but absolutely F***n useless when it come to customer services. I rung up once got a call centre in india then transfered to wales then to america !! And they all contradicted each other on what they said !! Anyway rant over !!

i thought that meat between 0 and 50mm from the floor? :ninja:

Haha it's fine to lower a Ferrari 50mm even if that puts you into the floor :p

*Off Topic*

But thats a good price, how many no years have you got?

I'm with Elephant and was never given any info like this. I put it my details on Auto Trader comparison site, added "lowered suspension" and "alloy wheels" and that's it. Was never asked how low, how big (or small) my wheels are. So as far as I'm concerned I don't know about these implications.

When and how would they ever check? I'm not for one minute saying not declaring mods is a good thing, but surely there's a line?

I can't say I've had many problems with their customer service to be honest; main issue is the Indian lot seem to have their microphones a mile and a half from their face so I can't hear them. When I renewed last month I got an Canadian girl who was far better than any of the Indians I have had.

There will be a clause in the insurance that says something like tell us everything you can think of and we'll decide if it matters. They won't be calling round to check on anything but what seems to happen is things like this: After a claim the insurance assessor or third party sends in pictures saying this is the damage (to whatever) and this is what your (allegedly insured) car looks like. At which point the insurer checks what you have declared and compares it to the pictures and/or assessor report. Pictures show some fancy alloys that you never declared and you will at best get a letter saying explain yourself, more likely, a letter saying you never declared this, you have broken the terms of the policy, you aren't covered.

They didn't even ask me how much mine lowered by and I read through the terms they sent me and the terms of the quote on the website and at no point did it say the maximum lowering range was 50mm :S

surely lowering is simply just lowering?

it's either lowered or not?

and also shouldn't 50-130mm be cheaper to insure than 0-50mm as with the state of the roads the lower you are the more careful you have to be?
