Does it matter what brand or will the better brand be a better oil ?

As long as it conforms to the G50 spec and is 75W/90 synthetic, the brand should'nt matter

Nigel's right - officially.

However, i disagree. Yes, with Volkswagen. Madness? Well, they fucked up - and thousands of their cars have suffered premature gearbox failure on that oil. Failures that weren't happening previously before it's use.

I use 80w/90 hypoid mineral, i've broken a few units as they came, but never after a clean up on that oil. Last one i did was longer ratios for a 6n valver, 19k in 10 months, nice slick change, seamless the whole time.

I may be wrong to blame the oil despite the pattern, there are other factors such as the car's weight/power/clutch/tyres but still i won't use 75w synth. Synth is for engines.
