so here is the ABD 1.4 8v engine ect that i got from motor hog, looks like a dog but has scrubbed up well, great replacement for the AAU.

How much did you pay for the engine mate?

here is the g40 interior i picked up from London, and the steering wheel i found on a bread van in motor hog. i have not seen another like it, iff any one knows what model it is off reply on here please, just curious. i put in black carpet also as the grey carpet to me did not look to nice. will do until i get new carpet trimmed to fit.

here is a rear exhaust bracket i had manufactured at an engineering firm in hull called parmac engineering, great since the repair panel is now obsolete. had it welded on for a fiver job done. phil jackson supplied me with a bigger bore stainless steal up swept exhaust, also the centre pipes ect, ideal for my engine up grade and when the ABD is on bike carbs.

14 steels on the car

14 steels from powder coaters

i bought some caddy steel wheels off ebay and had them powder coated at k + m powder coaters near Pocklington, 130 pounds for four wheels great price, had them done in graphite grey, and i added these generic vw centre caps, had to get the ones with the stud holes and buy the nut covers so they would fit though.

replacement air intake pipe

i replaced the horrible air intake pipe with this piping off ebay , its double 2 ply neoprene. just looks neater, will do untill i have bike carbs.

i have had some engine bay items powder coated red, rocker cover, radiator / fan cowling and the air intake dome, look really good. powder coating is magical lol, i also had the exhaust manifold shield and hose connector powder coated black.

blue bulbs on clocks

i have replaced the green lighting on the gt clocks i got, all the switches with green lighting are also being sent off to a guy on ebay who will open them up and replace the lights for blue bulbs.

vac advanced dizzy

i have recently obtained the mk2 items i need to complete the bike carb set up, ignition coil, vac advance dizzy, ignition module and small loom connecting it all. i degreased and rubbed the items down and have sprayed the dizzy and coil in silver engine enamel, they look really clean now.

here are the Yamaha FZS 600 fazer bike carbs i bought off ebay. i have recently cleaned them up and have sent them to bogg bros to be jetted and have an inlet manifold made up, also including the intake and out take for the coolant, it will be 215 pound well spent plus postage.

i pulled out the ABD and 5 speed box i also put in, and rubbed down the lot with metal brush drill bits and a drill. I then de greased the lot with a lot kitchen roll, white spirits and carb cleaner ready for spraying.

this is how it all looks after spraying with engine enamel, three cans was easy enough. the cam cover doesn't look to great as i didn't prep it allot, but it was only because I'm doing it separately in another colour, used it as a protector mainly for the belts ect. also sprayed over the oil filter, why not, gets replaced any way.

i also sprayed the engine mount, gear box mounts, alternator bracket, alternator and starter motor. They came up really well and look well.

here is how the engine bay looks now after i put it all back in, washer bottle is going to be replaced for a smaller one and will be located under the scuttle panel when the ECU is gone, and the coolant orb will go when i have replaced the radiator for a MK1 golf side fill radiator.

the cast iron exhaust manifold, really ugly just disgusting really. i have been looking at stainless steal four branch manifolds but as they are a straight through and remove the catalytic converter, i cannot use one as i drive my car daily and it would fail an emissions. i could get one and cut the straight through off then cut off the joining flange on the cat and weld them together, but this is allot of messing around. so i have taken the manifold to parmac engineering and they are cutting me both flanges in stainless steal and a friend of a friend is going to join them with stainless steal tubing making a four branch manifold that can be removed like the cast iron one, class. pictures to follow.

Chrome spot lights

rare colour that! where did you get the chrome trim for the bumpers?

yep it is a rare colour, i don't think the polo came in this colour, only the mk2 golf syncro ? maybe ? i had the car re sprayed, in and out , also engine bay , boot ect. Oak green metallic, also had the bumpers colour coded. i got the chrome beading off ebay pal, think it was 6 pound ish, had red stripping before hand but the chrome looks better, matched my chrome inserts on my door handles, and will match these chrome spot lights I'm putting on the front.

Blimey you like paint, but it looks really well so far. Couple of strange colour choices but it's all about making it yours.

The steering wheel i'm sure is from another MK2F but i don't know year/model.

Yeah I have red stripes at the moment but I have lots of shiney things on mine too

If you don't mind me asking where did you get it sprayed? I had mine done by a friend of a friend cheap and only the exterior and it cost me a fair bit, yours must have cost a bomb if it was by a pro at full price!
