I have also bought a side fill radiator off a VW golf MK1 year 81 - 83. Managed to get a new one delivered for £80 !! unbelievable , dont even get a radiator cap either. And i have got a 10 electric fan on there, just need to look at attaching it correctly.

my stainless steel radiator brackets came today, can finally put the side fill radiator and electric fan on

i fitted my side fill radiator today, these brackets when used on the mk3 do not go over the top of the slam panel like on the mk2, they need to be used by mounting them under the slam panel, still look good though.

Here are some photos of the radiator and electric fan in the car, i confirmed today that the fan is working as my car went above 95 degrees ( i think thats when it kicks in ) and it kicked in, so cutting the loom connector off the loom to the old fan and crimping spade connectors to it and simply attaching it to the electric fan spade connectors on the wires does work.

hockenheim wheel

These little bargains arrived today, i won four hockenheims with tyres on Ebay for £12.86, courier was £26 so all in came to £39. Need to get them powder coated, and centre caps sprayed to match, was thinking a dark cream, butterscotch or beige colour. But still have no idea

You going to give them a rattle can job yourslef or pay someone to refurb then spray them?

Would be cool to say you've got these Hockenheims all in for sub £50... However it would also be cool to have them absolutely mint. Or maybe you could just do a really good job yourself with the cans?

I am thinking of attempting them myself, but the rims are curbed abit, so would have to see how they are refurbed iff i were to do it my self. The thing is i can have them fully refurbed for £135 which includes powder coating, which in my opinion isnt too expensive. That would have been a sick deal iff they were mint lol, Bogg Brothers cost me alot, so i was well chuffed when i got this bargain, and dark cream is appealing to me

hose blanking plugs for expansion tank removal

I now have my blanking plugs to remove my expansion tank, an 8mm and a 13mm. I'm going to do it on Wednesday.

the cast iron exhaust manifold, really ugly just disgusting really. i have been looking at stainless steal four branch manifolds but as they are a straight through and remove the catalytic converter, i cannot use one as i drive my car daily and it would fail an emissions. i could get one and cut the straight through off then cut off the joining flange on the cat and weld them together, but this is allot of messing around. so i have taken the manifold to parmac engineering and they are cutting me both flanges in stainless steal and a friend of a friend is going to join them with stainless steal tubing making a four branch manifold that can be removed like the cast iron one, class. pictures to follow.

My stainless steel exhaust manifold flanges have finally been made, 10mm thickness, cost me £65, bit expensive, but what you going to do lol. Polish them up when they have been joined with stainless steel tubing to make me a sweet looking manifold.

My heater blower unit is making a rattling noise when it is on, and it gets louder when i turn it up, so i found myself one at the scrappy, going to swap it over this week when i put on my side fill ect.

fitted my heater blower today, the rattling noise has finally gone, just in time for winter

The rattling noise is back , must be something in the ducting , looks like the dash has to come off !

I had a productive day at the scrappers last week, got my self a new black cam cover as my other one which i sprayed blue was looking tired, i sprayed it blue so i didnt have to cover up any of the belts underneath ect.

decided to keep the blue cover , I'm going to sand it down and make it smooth 1st , looks better than the black one

switching the blower did get rid of the rattling as it was faulty, the different noise that came after was the bloody alarm touching the blower unit lol.

I am considering having a badge on my grill again, i rubbed it down and sprayed it to match my lone rear badge. also dont no whether to use this old polo badge, really want an extra badge in there on the slats.

Also found these pictures, when i originally took out the AAU and 4 speed box, and when i was using these wheels off a volvo 440, had them re-drilled to fit the polo, love the wheel, but didnt look good on the car. Would have looked better black i reckon

I've just purchased a small mk2 washer bottle , waiting for it to be delivered, and i am sending my exhaust manifold stainless steal flanges to a friend who is going to join them and make me a four branch manifold, i will update my engine bay photo soon.

powder coated armour door plates on the car

I have added this pic of my new door handles, chrome inserts and powder coated door plates for those who are considering it. it really does look better than a standard look on the door. Iff you get the door plates powder coated a new seal is needed to to be put around the edge so when the plates are on the door water does not run down behind them, i used clear gasket silicone seal and it worked well.

What's a 4-1 reducer ? My friend has quoted me 140 pound to get the pipes, bend them and weld them to the flanges , so 205 pound all in .... Expensive but that cast manifold is horrible and I can't decat the car due to emmissions

looked in my engine bay yesterday and noticed a slight oil leak under my thermostat housing, i traced it back to hook five which holds my cam in the head . i Guess i didn't apply enough sealant when i replaced the cam, annoying ......

Ah, well you know where to 4 runners all join into one single pipe? Well it can either be done by a 4-1 coupler, or it can be built as a 4-2-1, where the opposing runners join together first, and then these come together to form the single outlet.

I have some numbers somewhere and "header desgin" , if you want i can dig them out. If your gonna make something, do it properly ey! :-)
