just paid for all the parts above minus the cables, £15.58 bargain !

I had the hockenheims tyres taken off and thrown away, i have cleaned them so they can be stored over the xmas period until January / February which is when they are off to the powder coaters to be refurbished. They are pretty beat up, good luck to the lads at K and M powder coaters on Pontefract.

yep absolutely, k and m charge £135 to refurb the wheels and powder coat them, great price. Cant wait to get them cream and get them on, also need to lower the front end of my car from 40 mm to 60 mm.

I have taken advantage of the horrid weather today and rubbed down and sprayed a couple of bits for my engine bay. I have done the bonnet support and my wet coil for when the bike carbs go on in January. looking clean now, i just need to remove the big washer bottle next.

mk2 rear wash bottle

i have received my mk2 rear washer bottle from gaz today, cleaned it up, looks new, also got the single pump with it, i got some electrical wire and will be deleting my 4l one in the engine bay when the weather isnt as wet.

I have also received my rear upper strut brace the other day, i will be sending it off to powder coaters after xmas then will put it on, cheers vw-nay

engine bay picture

i thought i would take a couple of pictures of my engine bay since i have improved it some more, since the last picture i have:

deleted the expansion orb

deleted the old radiator fan and cowling for an electric fan

added a side fill radiator with stainless steel holders

cleaned up and sprayed the bonnet support and clip and distributor

cleaned up the 3 cam cover bolts and the 2 dizzy bolts

sprayed the engine bay and slam panel scratches in

What a bargain from scrappy , £2 ! To powder coaters to be done silver

Two days ago my distributor dies, got a replacement of a friend on polo 3, cheers kain. no point in buying a new one since I'm using my vac advance one in january, then today my idle control valve goes crazy and keeps sticking, good job i have my AAV throttle in the cupboard, going to have to fit it tomorrow. The two things that i dont need in three weeks go wrong, unbelievable!

i went to K and M powder coaters today in Pontefract, dropped off a few bits off to be done:

Hockenheims to be refurbed and done light cream

rear strut brace to be done satin black

rocker cover to be done silver

vauxhall carriers and callipers to be done gold

water bottle removed in bay

water bottle in boot

electrical wire and water hose

right i bought some new electrical wire and hose for the screen wash fluid, and i removed my engine bay washer bottle tank as its massive. i then extended the wire which attaches to the washer bottle pump and ran it under the carpet with the new hosing to the boot. i crimped together the wires and then attached the loom connector back on and plugged it all in. it does not work for some reason, but i will figure it out, i turned my key to get the electrics on and then tried to squirt the water but it did not come out, and my wiper blades have stuck half way up and wont go back down.

Sarcasm ? If so don't bring it to my thread pal. How ever iff you have an answer then I'm all ears , I'm thinking blown fuse , or my crimping to the but connectors is poor and they have come loose. Or the engine has to he running , how ever I can't do this untill I have a distributor on my engine lol .

I simply would like to know why, as I cant see why you would have an issue with the method used. Also due to the fact two friends of mine are about to go ahead and do this too. we were going to follow your method.

ok so now it turns out the distributor my friend gave me was a mk4 one, so fits gt, g40. so i think its over compensating for an mpi set up, thats why the idle control valve is going crazy. hes digging me out a spi on code aa or h, hopefully the polo will be running again soon,

cool beanz bud, well i have used:

mk2 rear wash bottle and pump (single one as mkf are double for front and rear)

20 feet of hose from a pet shop

5 metres of wire

4 x butt connectors

and a hose joiner off the original hose line

K+M powder coaters called, my wheels, rear strut brace, rocker cover and break calipers and carriers are done. £180 pound ! absolute bargain, 135 for wheels, so 45 for all the rest ! will pick them up after xmas and add pics.

Just read this from the start, great little project mate. love the colour of the car and it looks like its going to be a fantastic lil motor!

might be a wire earthing somewhere causing fault with the washer? i'm thinking off kicking mine into the boot too.

although i dont like multi-coloured engine bays, yours does look nice and clean!

cheers buddy, januarys a big month. new wheels, bike carbs, silver rocker cover, bike fuel pump, rear strut brace. first polo so as you can see i have done some things then changed my mind ect. next year when i get a loon for my garage project after i move and actually get a garage lol. i will be taking all i have learned from this polo and not being so wasteful, save some money and i will have the advantage of the car not being my daily.

i don't see how it could be as all i have done is cut the loom connector and extended the wire, i haven't had time to check yet, but will be doing after Christmas. my friend has not been able to sort me out with the aa distributor so the polo still isn't running, think i am going to fit all my bike carb components ready for bogg bros at the same time. i am not at uni now so don't need the car as much, going to need to order a new jack first though as mine has broken.

yer i aint a fan or multi coloured engine bays either lol, i originally was going for red and black in there, but am now going for a blue engine and silver components, i have been slowly deleting my red parts, fan cowling gone, rocker cover gone next week for silver, air intake dome will go with bike carbs too.

i have now also ordered:

choke cable £11.50

throttle cable £11.50

fuel cut off inertia switch from stinky pete £14

solderless nipples £2

all set for the carb conversion when they arrive ! bring it on

chasis leg sprayed after washer bottle removal

i sprayed the chassis leg where the 4l washer bottle was today, looking a bit neater now.
