GT head came today , photos to follow tomorrow . Blowing from the new manifold 421 is due to two of the bolt holes being re tapped incorrectly at bogg brothers . Not happy. So I either re drill to m10 or replace head , so GT head it is.

new tyres have come today, nanaking's 165 55 13, £120 all in online, not bad i guess.

My tappets arrived from vw-nay, and i have been to the scrappy to scrounge some bits.

I have recieved a cheap blow torch head with butane canistors off Ebay so I can get the only two manifold studs left on the GT head, the threads have gone completely and wont budge.

I got four head studs for the missing ones on the GT head and all five cam hooks. I also got a 6n rocker cover, arb bar, engine hoist loop. My bonnet support.

And Gaz has loaned me all three engine and gear box mounts, as all of the above are going to the powder coater to be done black. Dropping them off in the morning.

My engine enamel black wrinkle paint has arrived also for the engine and gear box, and I have some black paint for my drive shafts and my panel whipes have arrived to degrease the metal correctly before spraying.

I had my new tyres put on the cream Hockenheims day before yesterday, and balanced up with stick on lead weights, I will wash the car and put them on tomorrow, pictures to follow. The wheels look so good.

And I have also recieved my laser VW, Audi ect strut nut removal set, and shock spring clamps, so I am ready to put my 60mm front springs on the car to get the stance just right, as 40mm looks higher up than the front.

the bike pump is for the same bike and year of the bike carbs, so yamaha fazer 1999, and i bought the switch used off stinkypete bro

So I attempted to lower my the car the other day, and I was removing the nut off the drivers side track rod end, as it got to the top the stud in it began spinning so the nut would not come off. Looks like I am going to have to replace the track rod and arm as they are joined, and I only replaced both sides in august ! All ways the hard way with this car, I could not even tighten the bolt back up, mole grips wouldn't hold the stud.

I have got heat on the two studs in the GT head and removed them, when I get time this week I am going to rub it down , prepare it and spray it wrinkle black.

I have received a new head gasket, ten new head bolts, both new oil sensors and four new sparks plugs. Sourced it all to £36, cant go wrong.

Also my ARB blocks came, and side clamps, cheers yoof ect. £63, will be going on when I put on my powder coated black ARB

A good way of getting round the problem of the tie rod end shaft spininng is to use a G

Clamp on the top and bottom of the tie rod end, it pushes the shaft back in and causes it to bottom out, allowing you to wind the nyloc nut off enough to wind it off by hand, or get a pair of grips in there.

Yeah forcing it in place helps it lock on the taper of the balljoint

I went and picked up my powder coated bits and pieces from the other day, its all come out very nice, I'm in the middle of replacing the head over at the minute.

I have used the old rocker gasket but the head wont mate properly , do I need a different gasket ?

Also here is some more wrinkle paint, the starter motor looks smart as.

The cam covers are currently drying.

Pissed off as I drove the car today after putting the gt head on, oil is leaking from one of the new oil switchs! Fucking parts that are faulty. Picking up a new one from euro tomorrow

So I sorted out the oil leak, got a new oil switch from GSF again lol.

Car has been on a ramp at a friends unit all week, pulled the engine out to strip it down and spray in wrinkle black, pics to follow. Engine is ready to drop back in, 6n rocker cover on it and powder coated black mounts. Cant drop the engine in how ever until I can roll the car off the ramp.

I cant do this because I pulled off the full suspension mounts and have stripped them down, whole hubs are being powder coated black with all the suspension plates and cups. These should have been done today, however I cant put them all back together fully until I receive my new top mounts, these were new last year when I had new suspension shocks and springs fitted, however the fitter has not put them back together fully, bump stops ect were missing ! so the top mounts were worn and bearings ruined.

Will add my 60mm springs when I put them all together, pics to follow.

Also rubbed down and painted up my drive shafts and wishbones.

The starting issue with my car ended up being an old alternator, so I have received a new one, also powder coated the tensioner bracket black at the same time.

Today I have also received my new brake calliper repair kits and pistons for my powder coated gold Vauxhall from brakes, will build them up when I receive my silicone grease. All came to £65 from Big Redd

lol I thought about it, however as I drive it all over Hull everyday. Its not ideal, to many speed bumps, pot holes, next garage project saloon will be slammed on its cheeks hehe. How do you like my pistons ?? lol

I think I might dip my self in it he he ! I bought three cans to do the engine , gear box ,cam cover and starter motor. Only used two. What to use the third one on lol , close up it looks amazing though , well nice finish

More work done today:

I took advantage of the Euro Car Parts Sale this weekend, 256x20 mm vented disks and pads purchased for the vauxhall front brakes upgrade £45

I received my new front suspension top mounts yesterday

A picture of my drive shafts which I rubbed down and painted

My front suspension hubs are now powder coated as seen in the picture, they look amazing

I pressed my new front bearings in the housings, and then pressed in the wheel hubs again, freaky how that stay in there with out being bolted in

Then a picture of all the suspension housings ect all back together, then in the arch again. I gave the arch's a good scrub, when I strip the under seal under the car and weld in the rot, then re-under seal the underneath, I will under seal all the arches in at the same time.

Shame I had to add my 239x10 disks and pads, and original callipers, but the vauxhall upgrade will be replacing them soon.

I have fitted the suspension, track rods and ends, 60mm springs, powder coated arb. So tomorrow I will drop in the engine, all that is attached to it, and drive shafts then I can finally drive my car again.
