1998 MK4 Polo 16v openair: Candy white 52k miles

Featured Replies

Hiyaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! :-D :-D

Volkswagen Polo 1.4 16v open air

Low mileage example currently 52k rising slowly with daily commute but its approx 2-3 miles a day when not in my van. It was stored while I went travelling in 2009 which has aided its low mileage and for a second car for around 18 months in my ownership. She is back out into daily commission at the minute so as is ay mileage will rise but not by a lot. It’s simply a case of new project forces sale.

I’m the second owner from new and have owned this from 18000 miles when I purchased it in may 2007. The Previous lady owner had had the car serviced every 2000 miles which was its annual mileage.

I have various receipts for servicing throughout my ownership when I haven’t completed any task myself.

Electric windows mirrors doors and being an open air model comes with a full length sunroof which is also electric; this is in great condition as most are full of holes.

There is a small split of approx 2-3mm at the rear of mine which is where they commonly fail however this does not affect operation nor does it leak. (Detailed pics to follow)

The car also has air conditioning which I will have it regassed before the sale, to ensure its tip top.

Security: Laser line alarm with remote central locking and programmed to pop the boot also.

MOT Feb 2013

Tax August 2012 (will provide 6 months before sale if we reach the asking price)

Modifications:

Resprayed in original LB9A candy white with gloss black roof.

Deleted aerial

Smoothed side repeaters from wing.

All arches rolled

Audi handle conversion carried out by Steve Denton

Sills have been smoothed deleting the jacking points and seam with seam under rear lights smoothed. The sills were re stone shipped before repainted.

Front bumper has shortened recess to accept a 420mm plate and the upper grilles have been deleted.

Rear bumper has had the tow eye deleted

Rear hatch has had the number plate shortened to match the front at 420mm with the hatch badge and boot handle deleted (boot opens on alarm fob)

OEM fog lights

GTI 6n2 splitter

Hella dealer fit spoiler with brake light

6n2 Stubby mirrors lhd and rhd stubby so they are both small and match (heated and electric)

6n2 windscreen and 6n2 roof rails painted white to mat5ch the bodywork

FK powerlook headlights (new last year to replace the previous set which had broken clips. HIDS4U 6k Hid kit

Interior:

Colour concept Recaro leather seats (although there is a choice of all black or green colour concept leather)

The dash clocks have been split and have had new smt leds fitted to replace the green colour to light up red with white, give a more updated look.

DIY trimmed ABC and headliner in a faux suede material

Genuine Golf 3.5 black sun visors and painted grab handles to match the black.

ICE: Pioneer Avic X1R headunit with latest sat nav cd which includes all Europe. It’s a great bit of kit and plays DVDS also. The front seat headrests have 2 necvox screens in which are linked to the headunit.

The headunit is also coupled to some Alpine components in the front and a pair of Kenwood 7x10s in an auto acoustics stealth shelf.

Coilovers are FK Street purchased from venom motorsport in Feb 2012 so covered hardly any mileage

G60 brakes with braided lines pagid fast road pads and drilled discs

The engine is standard apart from a BMC filter fitted, however I have had it on the rollers on 2 occasions with and without the BMC and it was up on the book figure of 100bhp in both instances approx 115bhp I will dig out the printout to confirm.

I have a load of bits and bobs I'll be able to put in the boot trim etc. They will all be surplus to requirements.

Wheels: the car will come on a set of 16nich BBS RS764 (RX2) these are the 4x100 versions found on the mk3.5 golf cab. They are in need of refurb but if you’re looking to stamp your mark on the car then wheels are a change people are always willing to make. Tyres are 165/45/16 nankangs.

I think I have covered all bases but I will happily add any further information people wish to know along with anything I have forgotten to mention.

I feel you’re getting quite a lot for your money car wise and I’ve enjoyed every bit of ownership.

The front bumper could ideally do with a respray but the car is in overall good condition for its age.

For the purposes of Forum guidelines he asking price is 3000 ONO but please feel free to make any offer, I can only say no: D

I will post more recent pictures this weekend when i give the car a clean down
