Fitted the coilovers yesterday all fitted fine but had to use spacers on the bottom bolts all else was fine

you will find its pretty much decked, you really should add a 20/25mm spacer to fit at the top so you can use some of the threads of the coilovers and lower it much better then having it wound all the way up

had that problem on my one with the 6n coilies yeahh lol

plus without a spacer they stick out too much fr you to get the cap back on the top so they look gheyyyy

I had to run top spacers too, there was very little adjustment without them to the point of where you try and raise them to sit nicely with the front and all it was doing was taking out the preload out of the helpers

Also how do you run without the top spacers? Theres not enough thread on my KW's to do that?!

Think cheaper coilovers have more tollorance etc .. My mates coilovers have got like 3-4 inch of thread lmao

I seeee, well mine came off a 6n2/6n1 and came with a rather long spacer anyway.... was 2" bar iirc. was perfect :-)

might have to order mk1 golf coilovers and will they fit on without spacers btw iv got a mk2 breadvan

theres many a thread about using mk1 golf coilies on the rear of a mk2 or mk2f but there arent many pics to help i have found so I'm still not sure but i thought i'd add it to this one

you add a spacer on the bottom, 3 or 4 washers iirc if you want a quick fix rather than cutting bar... yes that is the spacer on the top some people dont have, like you i had that spacer already too.

where? actually in the hole as the diameter is too big or is it because the existing part isnt long enough where it attaches if you get me?

Because the bottom "eyelet" isn't wide enough, so when fitted to polo rear beam, it would just move about. You need to "pack" the bottom out with washers to get it to fit snug into the area available.

I Fitted a pair of these to the back of mine last week. almost a straight swap except the spacers & a lot of winding of the coilover nut.

i tried fitting the whole 42mm spacer /top mount sleeve from the raceland mk1 coiliys i have, and it just wouldn't give me enough thread, so it was cut in half and i now have 2 20mm spacers one on each side, does the job great.

No idea mate, they're off a mk5 originally, same thing though. i did have to jack the beam up to get the nuts on inside the car but its all good. no bodge as such :-)
