Most ridiculous title 'eh?

Anyway.

Right, so me and one of my best friends are discussing cars, and we start talking about dream cars as such. Now my best friend is a peculiar figure with a fondness towards Batman, and declared to me "I would love to own a Batmobile".

Now, since I'm going to be rich, at some point in my life - I promised him there and then I will make him a Batmobile one day.

As always, you start chatting and ideas come up. Now who would want just a normal chevy small block v8 to power a Batmobile? This thing's gotta be fast.

So I have to ask the question, before I start drawing ideas for it, is it road legal to have a Jet engine? It wouldn't be used for the road (I shouldn't think) but it would be fully functional for Santa Pod...

I know this sounds silly, but I really am curious.

, have you ever stood behind a JET car ? I miss the shed at pod , but in all seriousness :-D there is a section in the msa blue book regarding jet cars and there construction .

it'd be road legal following some precautionary measures to ensure the jet engine was a secondary engine and not on whilst on the road. I doubt you could even drive a jet car properly with its poor weight distribution- its purely for going fast in a straight line.

I know the bloodhound uses a cosworth engine for fuel supply alone...so theres another thing for you to consider.

I'm going for the classic tv style, but based on a far more modern touch, taking in styling such as the Lamborghini aventador and others.

Theres the Y2K motorbike which is powered by something stupid and creates a cool afterburner :)

Yep, exactly what i expected to read when Rover and Jet engine are in the same sentance......

A typical sequence from a notebook -

1st test: satisfactory light-up, no oil pressure.

2nd test: no light-up.

3rd test: engine exploded.

erm, well i know 2 rules which cancel this as a running car (jet engine only)

the decibel limit & emissions,

there will be hundreds of other aswell- got to remember that the MOT centre has to test it. i hardly think they will pass something which has scortched all the cars behind it and left the emissions probe a melted mess.

as for making a car with a normal engine but with a second engine which isnt used on the road - thats possible but I'm pretty sure they will have to check loads of stuff releted to it, such as fuel lines, oil lines etc for leaks.

chassis integrity will be serious stuff aswell to get through the SVA
