My indicators on the mk2 are playing up. They will flash for a while, then stop, then flash for a while etc. Whether it related or not, most of my lights don't work either. Only one side, both reverse lights are on constantly (switch is not connected yet) and one brake light. All bulbs have been replaced with new

I've located the big round iso-type plug where the rear loom connects to the front loom. It's about a 1 1/2 inches in diameter. I'm only getting power to some, not all of the terminals there, meaning the problem must be before this point. I can't seem to trace the wires from there though. Any ideas where to check next? I don't think its the switch because one side light is on, but even that's gone out now

Indicators seem to be down to a sticking relay. I'll swap that and see. All front lights are now working. Annoying I'm not sure why, but I made sure all connections were tight through the bulkhead. Still no rear lights though. One brake light works, reverse and number plate lights. All indicators do work, when the relay isn't being gay!

check the terminals in your bulb holders just incase, I've had it a few times on mine where I've had to bend the terminal outwards a little as it wasnt making contact with the bulb

Right, got them all working. Seems to be a mixture of dodgey relays, dead bulbs and shitty switches. Only one left is the rear fogs, and I'm hoping that's a bad switch. These tend to go?

When a switch stops working all it is the contacts inside are dirty. Just open the switch up carefully with a small flat head and clean the metal contacts inside. Even if you have a spare it's still a good idea as this way you will still have a working spare.

Edit- you can also do the same with relays, there is a moving piece of metal which has two "stops" these are the contacts. Again with a small flat head you can scrape away any corrosion/dirt between the points.

Thanks. I have a couple of spare switches/relays i can try just so i know it is/is not them. I'll hold on to the other ones and clean them out. The car has been sat, with water inside unfrtunately, so I'm 'hoping' it just a little bit of corrosion due to moisture

Right, indicators were down to a sticking relay, so that's sorted. However, the fogs still won't work. I have isolated the rear loom iso-type connector (white, round one) and I have current going to all but two of the connectors when I flick various switches, which I'm assuming are the rear fog ones. There is no current obviously at the rear fogs themselves. I have tried 3 switches to no avail.

Any ideas?

Where's the earth point? There is no current getting to the rear, and all other lights are fine.

Have sorted the reverse light too. A wire had melted going to the coil and it was shorting the circuit out. However, the wire has melted along its whole length, so now I'm wondering what else has shorted
