hi there guys and girls wondering if anybody can help me as I'm starting to run out of ideas, the problem i am having is that as soon as my '84 breadvan gets up to temp it misfires and backfires like a b**ch, seems worst in 3rd and 4th here is what i have done so far to try and cure this:

new plugs and leads

new dizzy cap

changed to electronic ignition

new fuel pump

new coil

changed inline fuel filter

cleaned the jets on the carb cleared the float chamber out while i was there

starting to think i might need a new carb but wanted to see if anybody had any other ideas before i lay out the £200 odd on a weber for it,

any help would be greatly appreciated

My brother has a mk2 breadvan 84reg and I've cleaned his carb out soo meny times and checked everythinki i can ht leads plugs dizzy fule pump ect and his still has a slight missfire sometimes. make sure the warm

Air feed from the exhaust manifold to the air box is on as my brothers run so much better with some warm air hope this helps some what

Have you checked that the automatic choke is opening when the engine is up to working temperature?

This is controlled by a bi-metallic spring in the black cap on the side of the carburettor,it is held in place by three screws, slackening these off allows the cap to be turned for adjustment.

Make sure that the choke is closed when the engine is cold and you have given one press on the accelerator, also that when the engine is hot, the choke is FULLY open.
