why do you want is on carbs?

tip one,

use the search function, click club polo on it it will show you how many times this has been covered.

tip two,

search through the FAQ

tip three,

do your research before trying such a big task, not being harsh incase you think i am.

i have looked and searched but it seems like no1 has done this to a 1.0. And this isnt a big task i have done big tasks

thanks anyway dude

i would presume that the injection - bike carbs principle would be the same or similar no matter what engine size.

i'm sure someone more usefull will crop up with a bteer suggestion

Been done on 1.4 16v 6n and 1.6 8v 6n and for a 1.0 8v 6n it'd be no different but for the type of carbs and how they're tuned/set.

Your best bet regarding carb choice, i think Honda CBF400 carbs. The CBR600 carbs i'm using are popular and good for tuning to cars, but too big for a 1.0. The CBF400s should work well.

Unlike the earlier 1043cc engines, your 999cc engine is a medium stroke. So you'll want to use a 1.3 dizzy (not a 1.0 one) for the best ignition curve if you're gonna run the TCI-H stand-alone electronic ignition system from the later MK2's. I'd try a 1.4 8v 6n cam with that, should have a similar profile with a touch more lift.

Why do you want to do this? Bike carbs can be astonishingly efficient and i've had mpg figures that some people refused to believe. But 999cc in the 6n shell is not a perfect equasion unless you combine it with long gearing and motorway driving, because they need to be worked inefficiently hard to keep up with single file traffic.

Tax isn't cheaper, so with little in it but a small insurance penalty you'd start with a 1.4 all day long.. Surely?

thanks dude

i wanna do this as a lttle project i have had 3 polo coupes and a breadvan all been 1ltrs and i just wanna see how for i can push the little 1ltr plus i run a staffordshire car club so would be nice to turn up in a modified 1ltr rather than my mr2 1.8 roadster lol

No way people put carbs off a motorbike on a car?! CRAZY

Joking aside its pretty easy.

All the problems people have are due to shit fuelling setups, poor condition carbs, badly made inlets and bring setup massively wrong.

I fucked around with mine so much, they're so forgiving in my experience, I could alter the ignition timing, cam timing and jetting massively and would still run and drive without popping or spluttering or stalling.

It's easy, but if you're not gonma do it properly or are gonna do it on the proper cheap don't bother

was thinking about spend about 300-400 on the set up would this be enough?

was thinking about spend about 300-400 on the set up would this be enough?

could AFH it for that

You'd want:

Manifold

Good condition carbs

Fuel lines

Fuel clips

Choke cable

Throttle cable

Air filter if you wish

Would strongly recommend a bike fuel pump

mk2 ignition setup or stand alone

I'd suggest stripping cleaning and rebuilding carbs too.

Jets etc, or pay someone to set it properly.

Comind down to give help me get mine set up before i RR harris,,, Yeah sound how nice of you to offer XD

lol only messing mate :)

Expect a few pms when the afh is in lol :p

i do really just asking for a backup plan lol

i was going to try 400cc bike carbs going make it loud as well by using the bike exhaust can lol

my inner child coming out lol

Hahaha are you mad?!

People put bike cans on thinking they'll sound like a bike . thing is there alot more restrictive lol

  • Author

i have a full performance exhaust from demon tweeks but it is very quiet my last polo coupe had bike can and sounded really nice

thats y u use 4 backboxes innit

Loud is gay as fuck in a polo because they simply arnt fast, there are very few on here that can be LOUD

The carbs make a fantastic noise, you don't wanna drown that out with a loud farty exhaust.

Seriously, Leona Lewis' voice sounds better than her arse does (allegedly).
