Good project mate, as far as your setup goes, I dont think there will be many cars about like yours as all the work your putting in most people chuck in a bigger engine at the same time. If the carbs are setup properly I reckon you could be within standard GT power.

Standard GT power is sort of what i am hoping for :-)

As far as the set up goes i am planing on running it on the standard ignition but set to Advance, to get it running with the carbs, then look into the mk2 ignition and get it set up properly.

Looking neat dude, did you get any head work done while it was off?

  • Author

No i have not had any other work done to the head, as i think a Standard Gt head is going to be quite a improvment to the 1.0L with carbs. :)

Edited by bugpolo

True! Will make a pokey 1.0L !

Hopefully see you around! I see your only in potters bar!

Oil light and buzzer come on today.

Had oil pouring off the sump, some how the Oil pressure switch had cracked

Good progress mate!

Did you not want to give the head a good scrub? Id give it a dust over with some silver spray paint, will get it looking brand new!

Should be a very nippy car!

I did have the tooth brush out with some brake cleaner but i think but the photos seem to make it look alot dirtyer than it is.

but i might get some paint for it :-D

Am in Hemel Hempstead, only ever passed thu your way once or twice!

And yea a lick of paint would look good! A lot of the head is on show once it's fitted.

liking this project, especially for a 1 litre. you have gone about this the same way I would have. I would like to see how much power you will get using the 400cc carbs :)

Just need GT Head and Bike carbs to be fitted.

Great looking car :)

It's as if they used the same paint as the 'diamond silver' and added just the faintest touch of blue.

Cool reg plate also. You'll have to add videos when the head is changed over. :)

Interesting to see how you get on with the 400cc carbs man. Was menna have a 1.3 gt on 600cc carbs on monday but HG failed so had to move the gt head and box over to the 1 liter along with the carbs.. runs pretty lean and boggs down under load at low revs but its pretty quick for a 1 liter!

The manifold is done :-D , just needs painting and servo pipe.
