You'll be joining SVAG now won't you...

Very nice mate...not bad looking at all.

i had a 2x mk4 back in the day.

Ok not as light as a original golf gti etc but a damn fine car. Really eat up the miles and a nice car to be in. I have nothing but praise for them.

I was just saying to my wife yesterday i miss the old golfs - both of which my best friend now owns.

Looks a nice one - hope you enjoy it.

2.0 or 1.8T?

i'm guessing a 1.8T

cracking buy ;)

1.8T :-)

Not a bad choice. They've got a bit of an off reputation for reliability, but a lot of it goes down to how they've been treated. Just make sure the oil pressure's good.

ye i am happy with it. got a full vw servise history

I thought they were fairly bullet proof in the engine department - like the occasional coil pack but thats it.

Unless you up the boost !!!!!!!!!

My wife has a 1.8T beetle - which is yellow with a big flower, but i still like driving it.

has it got cruise control?

I have a cruise control module if you were interested. Unopened in original box.

The main problem on them is the previous owners really. Those who think you drive a turbo'd car by getting in it, ragging the fuck out of it to where you're going wiv da boost and turning it off when you get there.

That aside, all I've heard is coil packs and weak oil pumps causing the obvious knock-on problems.

Looks tidy mate! I'm not too keen on the wheels... think 17's (correct me if I'm wrong) look a bit too big. do you have plans?

yeah - previous can be the undoing.

An d dont get me started on those that turn a turbo car off as soon as they stop - especially if its got quite hot.

Nice car mate and a nice spec combo.

Root cause of oil pumps is sludging / blockage of the oil pickup causing pressure problems, not the pump itself. As you said previous owner, quality/qunatity of oil changes will make all the difference.

It's a good idea to make sure the MAF is healthy with vag-com or similar if it's not returning good economy/drivability.

The mrs has one as her daily, only 150bhp but it still goes okay.

Oh and watch out for dodgy electric windows, and rear wash/wipe failing and doing the usual VAG trick of filling somewhere else up with washer fluid...

I loved my old golf. Wasn't fun to drive but did about 55k in just over two years and it just kept on going!

Same thing here

Coil packs, window regs, oil pick ups and that. Just make sure it's got the best oil in it possible, then you'll have nothing to worry about (as it as had a full VW service history)

Another smart looking mk4! They're coming left right and centre aha

As with bhp, I dont think you can get past 210bhp max with that engine, as it is being linited by the size of the turbo (k03 turbo)

My cousin is currently running 190bhp with a full exhaust system and a remap, but the next one up (k04; from a TT I believe?) you could be running near 260bhp; that would be fun to drive! (bearing in mind that hopefully you uprated the suspension etc. as it would be a boat aha)

They're boats even with better sus! Lol.

Mine was a TDi PD, sold it a few years back. Wonder what it's like now....

Looks good Ross.....will be odd seeing you in something other than a Polo though.
