Soo been on here a while now and thought i may as well put something together

Model: mk2 coupe parade

Engine: 1.4 'APQ' 8v, Newman 268 cam, zxr400 carbs, GT 'box

Suspension: 80/60 shocks and springs, chopped.

Brakes: vw2 setup, goodridge hoses.

Wheels and Tyres: BBS RZs 155/55/14 nankingkangong tyres with gay stretch

Exterior Styling: stone chips here and there, bit of rust

Interior Styling: air freshners

ICE and Security: CD player


Bought my car back in may 2011 for a whopping 750 quid from some dude in ramsbottom. it came with no badges, no boot lifter thing and was generally filthy.
Ran like shit on the way back thanks to the pierburg carb which the auto choke was stuck 'on' so stalled if you went under 10mph

here she is..



so first off i bought a replacement weber 32tl (i think) carb with manual choke and got that on, ran sweet ever since!


Loads of little bits and bobs have happend since then just haven't taken any pictures in the process! engine time soon so ill make sure i get some then!

sooooooooooooooo haven't really done anything the past couple of months.

Going ahead with a gt conv with the usual cbr600 carbs.. just in bits at the min and feels like i haven't been payed in forever so waiting on money

and hopfully i can get a move on! need a gt cam and box if anyones selling

think it was a nice day so started rebuilding the carbs, steve rebuilding some other shit

made 1 shiney then got bored..

didnt have the luxury of a cig lighter in the car so finally got round to fitting one at the weekend, looks shit but does the job i guess

started to get some more parts together and gave the block a lick of paint

got a gbox today from 'markcrox' on here, unsure on the code but this is it from what i can gather off the forum..dont think I'm looking in the right place?

if it does then its a gearbox from a 1.4 ABD Golf engine!

Looking at the info I've found about it it has the same ratio's and final drive as an 8P gearbox.

I'm really sorry about that. If you don't want it let me know as I'll be happy to swing buy and pick it up from you and refund your money! Plus it can go on my 1.6 16v! :)

Yep I can confirm it's an 8P in all but name, the only difference is it's the later casing with a different offside driveshaft flange, so fit the late mk3 offside driveshaft and you're good to go. My brother has the same box in his car.

Yes they do.. so it slightly changes the characteristics of the car. But it does mean the with the 8P you should get better mpg on runs! :)

Very rarely do any motorway driving at all ill hold out for a gt box, and let you know?:)

so my stereo stopped working, no music is boring!:( gotta look at that tomorrow, and i think one of my drums is warped keeps squeaking on rotation, touch the handbrake and it stops.

minor update, Mark was kind enough to come and collect the gearbox off me and give me the money back, which has now been spent on an 'ahd' gt box collecting that on friday..

been on the hunt for some vw2's which i think I've got sorted now I've got everything for brake conv.

started painting and polishing the new rocker cover too, lost motivation and got bored so its at a standstill for the mo

AHD box is here, just needs a new release bearing and thats good to go, gonna be using my old clutch and fly, depending on the condtion of the clutch that is..

still waiting on the steering rack.. and some audi 80 top mounts in the post, need to get down to the scrappy and get some 6n top cups and get that sorted on tuesday,

hopfully should stop the nocking everytime i change gear from the suspension

so i sorted my topmounts yesterday, and found a nice suprise on the nearside... lost the rest of the shattered pieces in the gravel but you get the idea

picked up some vw2s and gave them a lick of hammerite we had nocking about at work, 'copper' colour but it was free so...

gt cam came in the post last week, got that in and head built up last night. just need to do headgasket and get it together.

lent my wheels to a mate for his mot, and he kurbd them... so went down to city powdercoaters in birmingham to get my spare rz redone, and sort out the other ones,

had them redone there when i first got them for 80 quid for the 4, which wasnt bad and they came up alright so cant complain had a chat with an e24? owner for a

bit aswell, tryed to convince him to sell it but he was relucant

stripped a genesis of its interior at the scrappy the other day with jamie for his and pinched the front seats as my genesis ones arent brilliant. soaking wet though, got them in the only bit of sun to dry them for a bit

managed to get a little lockup aswell so cleared the garage out at home, got my hands on some cabinets and tool boxes etc for it, just need a decent workbench!

Ordered some goodridge hoses for the g40 brakes which should be coming on friday, so hopfully get them on friday afternoon or saturday.

Been reading up on alternative master cyclinders over standard, and the info on the faq's is a bit confusing. might upgrade at a later date, want to know whats best

first really so if anyones done the conv before or has any info id appreciate it :-)

They're actually alright, picked the wheels up for cheep in the first place for like 80 quid and they were so neglected

But they came up pretty smart,for 20£ a corner it's worth a punt haha
