Having a bit of trouble with the Yamaha R6 bike pumo setup at the min. Doesnt want to draw any fuel through :-(

Stuck away from home now so hopfully will be able to make the RR day tomrrow!

Hey Marty, we should just ask the Internet about that?

(do the accent!)

Current engine spec in a nutshell..

1043 HZ bottom end with mad square tooth pulley conversion

Ported GT head

'AHD' 5 speed box

Pretty shit inlet manifold with fuck loads of air leaks

Ancient CBR600-F carbs off a motorbike. Jetted to keihin 135

4 branch mani with standard exhaust

Ninja 600cc fuel pump which doesnt work too well at the minute. probably need to sort air leaks out first.

How are you getting on with the 135 jets. with my 400cc carbs i am running 105 jets and its to lean and wont rev over 5k just boggs.

I was thinking of going 120 jet is your lean/rich with the 135's

Difficult to say really man, was being proper shit bottom end due to an air leak on the inlet manifold. Re welded that and it picks up alot quicker bottom end.

Fuel pump is fooked and not drawing fuel through at all now, and the 2 other bike pumps i have are also nackered. untill i can sort fuelling out i cant really give a proper answer :p

Pulls proper hard though high up in the rev range. 1 liter is the way forward lol.

So the fuel pump packed in when i was at a mates in Birmingham last Friday, not drawing any fuel through! Took it out and tested it and i reckon its just burnt out..

Got one off a mate who had one nocking about.. which turned out to be no good. Got a second one off another mate and no worky either!

Bought breakdown cover through my insurance to get it towed home tomrrow hopfully! alot cheaper than a flatbed back home!

Getting a facet fuel pump and gonna run a t-peice for the return either this week or next! other than that, nothing interesting to report!

That 1043 is going to be a Monster when your finished with it

Really like what your doing hear man big respect for the effort and the walking through McDonald drive through ;)

You were right to say i would get a bit bored and turn to a gt haha good shout there

Tbh unsure of what to do with it now engine wise.. Bought a GT bottom end off max at the rr day.

So plan is fit facet on wednesday and get the shit heap running and get the carbs set up properly again and see how i get on. The 600cc carbs are an

overkill on the 1 liter anyway so might go for some 400s at some point. See what pay day days!

Whilst waiting for the new fuel pump got bored so took the rear beam off, new genuine bushes, handbrake cables, bearings, drums and shoes and a lick

of hammerite to spruce it up a bit! Also gave me a chance to get some stonechip underneath where the underseal had peeled away.

Got a set of coupe s clocks as well so living the dream with a state of the art rev counter! win!

New facet pump wired in and fuel lines connected. Everything back together and it runs okish.

Really loud tapping noise from the top end. Got plenty of oil and carbs are balanced etc. nothing has changed since it ran fine 3 weeks ago and has

been ran 3 or 4 times in the past few days. Can't think what it might be. Any ideas?

exhaust manifold leak?

  • Author

afraid not lol. i think sam got a video ill get him to send it on whatsapp.

ok. probs look tomoz beddy timeeee

how long you let it run for?

my 8v's used to do it if it'd been left for time. took a while for it to stop.

  • Author

ran it a few times, maximum 5 minutes dont want to do any damage by leaabing it on haha, and its always like 11 at night when i get round to it and the neighbours are vexxing

5 mins? lol dude mine took a good 20 mi/half hour to properly quiet down. got a vid to prove! sounded like it had no oil in it lol!

Tappets have drained themselves dude,

You whipped them out yet?

  • Author

Had a chance to properly run it yesterday for a good half hour or so till it got to temp and fan kicked in

No sign of it quieting down at all, reckon its just running very lean.

Have just bought some smaller carbs, and a wideband so hopefully can sort fuelling out properly and get the thing on

The road ready for fast show ?

Oh and nice signature max haha

Turns out the timing was a few teeth out! no idea how this could of happened for being sat for a few weeks?

Sorted that out and is nice and quiet on tickover when up to temp. Drove it to work on monday (only a few miles) and it ran okay.. still lean

but other than that not too bad!

Bought an AEM wideband which arrived tuesday, went to have the boss welded this morning and the revs now stick, or climb on gear changes

ZXR400 carbs cleaned and rebuilt. The spacing on the carbs is well off compared to the manifold made up for the 600s.. got some longer silicon

joining hose but its too stiff and will kink so I've ordered some different stuff, more flexible and should still work! VWII's rebuilt with new seals and

bled, feel loads better!

Had the car nearly 2 years now and never actually taken it to a show! always problematic and no time on my hands! so no fast show for me this

year! :-(

updates?

timing discovered by supercheal, people dont call me that for no reason haha

i love helping with your car for some reason.

Picture of the seats?

Nothing to report Eric, at all..

Did order some flexible hosing for the carbs but they sent the wrong size, and the size i need is on backorder till the end of next month,

so i've ordered it from elsewhere! Still had noooooo time to properly fit the afr, and the weather is just shitty all the time!

Spose i rebuild the front brakes and bled them.. and bought some gt2 seats but thats it sad faaaaaaaaaaaaaaace
