Got the engine out yesterday. Just need to take steering rack off and replace both gaiters and a lick of paint wouldnt go a miss. Master cylinder needs replacing as its seen better days! then to start prepping the bay for some paint.

Tank off today to paint and sort blocked breather..

Car and engine are coming along slowly.. very slowly.

Got a few parts for the engine, just need aux and alternator pulley then engine can be timed up.

Swapped out 5th gear in the GT 'box to an 8p 5th. Piece of piss, loads easier than i thought! Anyway pictures speak louder than words!

And also bought a mk2f breadvan as a daily while the mk2 is off the road, so shit but cost me 175 quid with tax and mot, runs sweet although could use

some attention body work wise...

Think thats it for now really. Need to check oil pickup on the APQ engine, unsure weather i can just swap over or have to cut and weld to allow shallow

sump..

You'll need a different pick up either way. Either shorten or use your mk2/3 bolt on one.

Just use your mk2/3 v belt aux pulleys fam and a standard belt too.

Piece of cake mate

yeah just need to get engine on stand and take sump off lol.

keep leaving shit at lockup and forgetting to bring it home to get it on engine. x

Ok

Can't wait to see how this performs!

Nor me he's basically doing what I wanted to try with that engine lol

It'll proabably break, just my luck..

Engines now on the stand, gonna get oil pickup shortened and back together with mk2 sump tomrrow hopfully, then engine just needs timing up and

getting in the bay, which is also getting flatted back tomrrow and mopping up!

Shame about all the pictures on here going to shit, organised my photobucket and all the codes have changed, and dont know what pictures went

where.. might tidy up a bit on a rainy day, meh.

Thats it for now!

Looking good mate, will try finish manifold this week, you could do with fitting a mk2/3 dipstick AND tube also, 6n tube length is different, or the plastic bit at the top makes it different anywho.

  • Author

Thanks mr new clubpolo moderator nick :)

Got the mk2 dipstick and tube from garage earlier, one step ahead of you!

Started flatting the back back today, gave it a once over with some g3 cutting compound and touched a few places up.

Took off the brake lines and gave them a lick of paint just to tidy them up a bit.

Got excited so bolted steering column and rack together along with steering arms and a few other bits just to see how it looks :)
