Getting a bit closer now, engine oil and gearbox oil gone in, bit of a wire tuck/tidy, couple more stainless nuts/bolts here and there etc.

Driveshafts on and gear linkage on and set correct and fuel pump relay/wiring/plumbing done.

Engine turns over and sounds healthy, just waiting on some parts tomorrow and should be running soon

soo after a couple of hiccups with fuelling etc, got the car running pretty sweet and fuelling was pretty close to spot on.

Had MOT booked in for today (29/08/13) ready for Action tomrrow, was driving the car home and was stopped at a set of lights at a roundabout in the middle lane..

Massive Eddie Stobart truck comes on the outside, cuts me up before I've even set off and drags me forward about 10 ft with his truck. pissed.

Gotta wait for his company to call and see whats going on, but for the cost of repairs its probably gonna be a write off.. anyway heres some pictures :-(

SHIT.

that sucks dude.. :(

I think that could be salvageable.. maybe.. is the rest of the rear quarter straight apart from the rear light area?

I know mark, been on such a downer today! Had a quote today, 881 quid. ouch..

I got quite lucky here! After phoning the number the driver gave to me, it didnt even exist, and after finding the correct accident centre number for

Eddie Stobart group, i found that the driver has already got a bad reputation AND wasnt in uniform  Got a witness to confirm the story as the driver decided it was all my fault.

Nothings going through the insurance, the company are sending the car to a VW and Insurance certified body shop up in stoke to be repaired at their

cost!! Just waiting on a call from the garage tomrrow to see when they're picking the car up as its not drivable in its current state.

Pretty happy at the result so far as the body shop has got great reviews and they get the car on an ultrasonic jig to check for misalignments etc and make sure the cars alright on the road, along with a lifetime guarantee of repairs :-)

Just paranoid about someone else touching my car though...

Will update as this progresses! Gutted it wont be coming along to VW Action this weekend though :/

Ahh that's good then! hopefully it will come back looking as good as new!

Glad it's getting sorted. Make sure they pay through the arse for genuine panels and get someone on your side with "the eye" to check over their repairs ;)

glad its getting repaired as i love this car lets hope they do a good repair job by putting orignal stickers graphix on it

Well so far i've just been messed around..

Eddie Stobart said they will send it to a VW and Insurance approved body shop with all the equipment etc and will just sort it out. Sweet

So they send out a flat bed to collect it on thursday morning, guy comes over and instantly tells me its scrap and he refused to take it...

Took some pictures and phoned back to the body shop and told them it was 'a suped up boy racer car' and they didnt want it round the shop. Fantastic

Told him i wanted to keep the car and he said ok, we'll leave it at that, and drove off..

After more emails and calls, the bodyshop are sending the photos over to Eddie Stobarts accident people to assess etc.

Didnt even notice both my wheels and centre caps are curbed too.. IF it were getting repaired, they whole car will need painting as your never gonna match 22 year old white paint with fresh paint lets be honest.

Gotta wait for a call/email from stobarts people and see what the crack is

Tbh i just want to re shell now, would be more cost effective and would be good fun too i reckon.

SO, if anyone is selling a mk2/mk2f COUPE, or knows anyone who is, i may be interested at the right price, but we'll see. It's still early days but its in the pipeline..

HOPFULLY this will be rescued :)

Had a call yesterday to say they were just gonna let me keep the car and give me some money which will cover the cost of repair.

Managed to get a good quote and I'm thinking about just getting the whole car sprayed. Would look ridiculous just doing half the car.

Just waiting a final call/email to finalise price and hopfully will go ahead with it. Wont be a quick job mind.. Just hope its done in time for GTI...

Your going through every owners worst nightmare :(

I wish you the best luck I can man as your parade is sick!!!!

Ahh that's great news!! :good:

Good news! Got some monies now, and had a call back from the body shop today and got a REALLY good deal!

Repairing all the bodywork that was damaged, and a full repray are a go!

Just need to trailer the car down there sometime next week! Won't be a quick job, couple of weeks, but i've got the breadvan to get to and from work etc and have use of other cars.

Unfortuately the car wont be ready in time for GTI in october, but i'll still be coming!

Gonna have to do a few RWYB sessions after gti before winter settles in to see what this engines like!

Bit of progress in the body shop, cars pretty much ready for primer now..

Need a new bootlid though as mines pretty rusty and not really worth repairing. Have looked all through clubpolo classifieds and facebook groups etc but cant seem to find one :/

If anyones got a solid boot lid ill love you forever, and give you some money for it too!!

I'm glad its getting sorted..
I did PM you back about 2 boot lids.. :)

WOW! :o

What an adventure your little Polo is having...sounds like after all her trials though she's going to end up better than ever

*hugs from one white MK2 to another*

Sorry forgot to reply to your PM's Mark!

Managed to find one in the end, someone off one of the polo facebook groups had one which is currently on its way up to the bodyshop via courier.

Excited to get the car back now! Bike carb deprivation :(

Quick update on how the car is looking at the minute. Just got the boot lid to prep and swap glass over, and remove windscreen to sort the rust from around there, and it can go into primer and paint!

looking good boi!

Sweet!! :)

Fair play to you. I remember someone in a mini bus pulling out into my g40 spun me into a bush. He gave me details only for me to find out he was not covered on insurance. Fortunately I was full comp. then I took it to my local vag body shop and the assessor tells the garage that there going to scrap it. Fortunately the guy at the body shop persuades the assessor of the value of the g40 and it gets done.
