Hi guys,

maybe somebody knows which car coilovers could fit on Polo mk2 or mk2 facelift. I see on ebay prices is around £600 so it's quite expensive (as for 6n around £190) so I'm looking for a bit cheaper way.

Sorry if there's a thread already talked about it, just couldn't find anything exact.

On a mk 2 or mk 2f your a bit stuck really, cheapest is phil j on here, think its 360 for the fronts or 480 all round.

Hm, kinda shitty thing.. Gues the best way is to renew the original shocks and filling them with higher viscosity oil and fit them with lowered spring or try to adjustable hight springs from other model.

What about golf coilies? Will fit from mk1 only to rear? Have heard something like that

or just fit readily available shortened + stiffer dampers and lowering springs.

Depends what you want. You can go cheap and shit ride (TA Technix and the like) for about £110 on ebay stick in "86c suspension", or you can go up to about £350 for H'n'R shocks and sp;rings, which won't be as low, but will properly sort out your handling.

Golf fronts are a none-starter because the polo is combined strut and hub with a single bottom arm and anti roll bar and the golf is separate strut and hub with a wishbone.

you would be better asking that in the engine section not in the brakes and wheels post you have

If you can get your hands onto the 1W engine fitted to mainland europe polo's then yes its doable, the polo was never offered in a diesel variant on the UK market.

Nah original take and fuel lines would be fine, done plenty of petrol to diesel swaps and never bothered with swapping the tank or pipes, its more of an issue if going the other way but that's nothing a very good clean and a full tank of petrol wouldn't sort out.

Wiring wise you would need a switched live for the diesel pump solenoid and a simple push button setup could be knocked up for the glow plugs (or you could rob the glow plug wiring from a mk2 golf gtd, its its own like circuit).

One issue you would have is that if its a mk2f it will be injection and have unneeded fuel pumps, you could get round this by simply using mk2 fuel lines and fuel tank pick up

Okay, let's say I bought Polo mk2f with 1.4 diesel engine, but it haave only 35kw so it's not enough, what engine is best to fit? Have heard something about mk2 golf 1.6 td engine, will it fit? Of course, the best would be tdi engine from golf mk3, but as I remember, mounts are diferent, right? Give me some info guys.. thx

hm, guess the fitting turbo to 1.4 engine will be big deal, so maybe ill take petrol engine and fit bike carbs, which i gues wont be very economic..

You'll get good economy from bike carbs depends how you set them up.

I'll let you know but I think I'll get over 40mpg from mine if I resist the noise for a tank of fuel
