Adams AFH GT breadvan

Featured Replies

So been a while since I've been on here properly, some of you may remember i had a classic red coupe as my first car, which I did a fair amount to

I then swapped it for a mini, great fun but spent more time fixing it than driving it so that went. I then bought myself a mk1 jetta, spent too much money on it and realised I didn't have enough time or money to complete it. So got talking to olly (tramp) and sorted a deal to swap cars at PoloShow!

It was a long way, but enjoyed it in convoy with a few mates, not to mention the top two in show and shine that day

James AFH was far too thirsty and ran out of fuel half an hour before arrival, so had to tow him 7 miles to the fuel station

However we eventually got there and closed the deal and I headed home for another 170 mile drive. Not ideal in a brand new car with only two of us there, but it made it!

It was filthy after getting stuck at the show so later that evening me and my mate set on giving it a proper clean

Despite it being one of the most fun drives I've ever had, it was by far the most uncomfortable as there was no rear suspension whatsoever so this weekend I took it to my mates work to get it up on a ramp, check out the rear suspension and work out what's needed for MOT next month.

Turns out someone had fitted the shocks wrong which had caused them to twist and pop the oil seals. The shocks would not return after being loaded.

I have quite a list of things to do before MOT and is going to be more expensive than hoped :(

Will upload more photos, info and plans in the next couple of days when I get some more free time, anyway, hope you like, comments welcome as always

Yeahh man! I started to build up the gt setup but it went with the car when I swapped it for the mini :(

It will be tidied up eventually. And I'll start to sort ride height next month when it gets coilovers ready for MOT

I do miss the pimp factor of the jetta, but I could afford to fuel a bigger lump, enjoy it man!

i didnt lower it! i just left it as it was

I really hope this ^ is true :) abf in a Jetta would be killer.

Good to hear you're back in a polo, even though the mini is gone.

I'm sure you'll have fun with this one!

Sooo, been an expensive couple of weeks with ups and downs but here you go!

Firstly the fan packed up, and it was bloody hot and couldn't get one quick enough so spent the evening modifying a mk4 tdi twin speed fan to fit which is all good! Cuts in and cools so much quicker than the old one

D518F166-8423-430A-AB54-9FA66A350AC6-790

Then the backbox fell off so had to fix that, welds look disgusting but it does the job

910183C0-69AA-4E04-8122-30E547F66569-790

Due to a leak on the rocker cover the alternator packed up, so ended up doing this everytime I wanted to drive it for 3 days

329A0603-2371-4ED1-9271-2D67CDACDEF9-790

Put three different alternators on and did nothing, I then found the driveshaft had eaten its way through the alternator cable. Then ended up buying a brand new alternator, which has made a huge difference!

I then drove to Northampton one evening after work to get these wellers 7x13 et20

2A888BE4-C0F5-489C-A039-9BF0CBEB0CA4-790

A bit wide for breadvan arches lol, so fitted stretched tyres that evening

6D2EFBC9-D5E7-4CF3-AE1E-358AEDED5749-790

155/60 on a seven, no problemo!

B83A66B0-2E4D-4D3A-A997-0AD443772203-790

6AD8BFC3-891E-4684-B184-EDE92879E39F-450

Today I took it on a rolling road day with my local club which was great fun. Was surrounded by 220bhp corrados and the likes but mine got voted best car of the day by the staff!

D31F63F8-CFB3-4C52-8401-BAD0946C6D38-790

D3239C2C-2541-491B-94AA-AE5BE079A34E-790

The results were 92 bhp @ the wheels and 114 at the flywheel which I didn't think was too bad considering the age of the engine and one of the pistons is down on compression lol

And a rolling shot from the way home, yes I know it needs to go lower...

Cheers guys, here's a RR vid for anyone interested

MOT is due early next month and gonna have a failure sheet the length of my arm so got a bit of a dilemma. Could reshell this but I really like this one and the shell I've been offered is a mk2 which I'm not a huge fan of....

Got myself an MOT, only thing the tester picked up on was that the indicators where white and not orange £2 later... Sorted

Fitted mk1 rear coilovers last weekend. Hope to get fronts built up before GTI FEST for MOAR lows!

My wellers would work a treat on this with the polo friendly offset, would tuck on the back!

Shame I don't have the funds :(

Looks great, Was it hard wiring in the fan?

it's a shame you had to get rid of the jetta!!

wellers look great

has the red polo loon got a build thread?

Nope, soldered the 3 wires and it was done, obviously had to cut the fan down but that was it.

Yeahh is a shame but just could afford to do the work needed so it was a waste to me, not sure about the loon, will find out
