Hello as title says I'm thinking about putting the Revo Stage 1 map on my 1.8T GTI, Heres a few questions not sure what is possible and what needs doing 100%

What do I need to make it map ready? (currently have DV valve and new pannel filter)

The map will increase wear and tear on the car what is going to go clutch?

Its is possible to run two maps on a car and alternate via a switch? (so that I can drive map and the girlfriend can drive standard)

what things should I consider and whats the rough price? finding hard to find dealer..

The reason I Picked REVO us because they revert the car to standard for free if unhappy.

If it was me id rather save my money and put it towards a stage 2/3 ect

Isn't the 'stage' of tune related to the other hardware installed? Surely your best to talk to REVO for the answers to your questions rather than relying on second hand info?

Regarding the switchable map, they are available, but I have only seen them on after market ECUs. May be possible to run one on an OEM system too

Stage 1 is usually on a standard engine iirc and stage 2 i think is normally just intercooler and exhaust

I don't think you'll need a switch for your mrs with a stage 1 map tbh bud.

You may gain some powers due to being FI but probably just more drivability and less flat spots.

Revo SHOULD test all your sensors and check its healthy before beginning mapping.

Also being a generic map it won't be as beneficial as a custom map

They are a couple of hours away so not the end of the world. Are the Torque gains on stage 2 alot more noticeable? I dont really mind spending the extra on FMIC or sports cat etc if i know its money well spent. I'm a true beliver in good value rather than cheap..

to go stage 2 on a polo you need to spend alot, here is the list i was given by revo as a minimum before running stage 2

turbo inlet pipe

highflow downpipe and sports cat

new dv

fmic

i run a stage one revo on my polo gti and its brilliant, i have the sps switch too and if i switch back to the standard map, the difference is very noticeable.

id would recommend a revo stage one for your needs.

is this on your 6n2? who put the switch in on standard OEM? I think it will be fine then I can build from there as I want an FMIC but ony when I'm bored of stage 1

no, its a 9n3, same as yours.

google revo sps switch and youll see what it does, fab bit of kit.

I'm running stage one software but i have the forge fmic and a pd160 intake.

bonus to the sps switch is you can tweak your own map using very very simple software, you can adjust both boost level and timing advance.

Your friend needs to ask for his money back mate.

Everyone in industry uses slightly different terminology, but a Stage 1 remap is normally a blended power and economy tune and Stage 2 is a performance tune. On a Focus ST, Stage 1 should deliver an easy 35bhp which should make it feel like a totally different car (it's already a pretty quick motor).

We tune everything from EVO's to M3's, and in fact tomorrow I have a Vectra VXR 280bhp on down south. These are all already 250bhp+ cars but another 35bhp gives them a marked difference in performance and drivability.

Regarding the OP's original question, you need to do nothing except ensure your car is healthy. If the tuner is good, they will perform a healthcheck to ensure everything is in good working order.

Regarding generic remapping, this is a term widely touted on forums by people who don't actually understand tuning. Yes there are still a cowboys out there that will flash anything on to your ECU, but equally there are many high quality mobile tuning companies that know what safe variables to work within, on cars that they have already dyno tuned in house.

Not wanting to start an argument here, but I actually don't understand what you mean. Either it's tuned and the power is there, or it's not.

Anyways I just wanted to clarify some of the points for the benefit of the OP and other readers interested in tuning.

I'm saying that its mapped ect, and yes if you stick your foot down its noticeably quicker, but for day to day driving its fine. as the OP was asking about his wife driving it too

I understand your point, if you drive it hard its fast and fun. If you drive it normally is still safe and not a worry.

IV had a long look into this and I think what I will do is the revo stage 1 n a revo sps switch(300 for map and 125 for switch).i think stage 1 will be as far as I will go 200 to 210 bhp will be anuf to use daily

i agree you dont need it to powerful as its just a fun daily drive, plus being only stage 1 there isnt bags of prep unless you want to.

Do you think your gong to get map soon? I'm looking around for FMIC to be fitted 1st.

You won't regret a revo map. Sps switch is great if other people drive the car, can even turn the boost off if you leave the car with a garage etc. also has anti theft function built in too.
