My name is Dennie, I am from The Netherlands and proud member of the VW Polo Club Holland!

After looking at some of your awesome threads over here I decided to share mine over here too. I hope you will enjoy my car / project!

Since the beginning of 2007 I am the proud owner of this Polo G40 Genesis of 1993. I could buy it for a nice price at the time (compared to others for sale). The body was in good shape, hard, no really bad spots. The only questionmark was the G-lader, which the previous owner told me was in good shape. I had my doubts because the firm that overhauled it, doesn't has a good name. Also the Genesis-stickers where coming of and offcourse the big hole in the body under the battery. Since then there has been going a lot of time, work (together with my brother) and money into the car.

Here is how I bought the car, completely stock.

Offcourse it shouldn't be stock for long . At first a H&R cupkit 60/40 lowering and RSL in 13" , 7 and 8 wide. And the Engelmann mirrors.

To be sure I brought the G-lader to the famous Arno, to have it checked and overhauled. As we thought, it was in a bad shape.. When taking of the intercooler it had some chippings from the G-lader in it . Clearly broken.. Luckily he had one laying around, which was overhauled by him for the first time in it's life.

Then it was time to take on the body.. After all the parts came off, we found the only bad spot on the exterior.

The car was ready to go to Emiel of MIVW. The arches were widened, all holes for the antenna and indicators welded and cleaned the bumpers and offcourse resprayed in the original LC4U purple colour.

Then I got bored with the RSL's and for me there was only one replacement: Schmidt TH Line in 14", 7,5J and 8,5J. Together with that it needed some coilovers: KW Variant 1

After that the I fitted some Wellems blocks to correct the allignment again of the wheels.

At the end of last year, this is how the car looked like:

I have to search for the pics, but in the meantime I also fitted 3 VDO meters (oil temp, pressure of the G-lader and Volt) and a snap off hub with a OMP like steeringwheel.

At this moment the car has no engine and gearbox.

The gearbox is been completely overhauled and gets a new clutch. The engine is also been overhauled, parts are polished, newly galvanized (?) or painted. Also fitted a new 4-2-1 outlet manifold, Newman cam and new pulley on the G-lader. This is all done by Jeroen Leenders (for some of you maybe known for his red 6N 1.8L bi-turbo).

Next week we will work on everything under the bonnet and it will also get a respray over there.

After it the block can be fitted and also a new leather interior will be fitted.

I am also looking to change the mirrors and rims again and maybe to fit CAE-shifter on the longer term.

I will try to update the thread with pics regularly and offcourse new stories.

Well time is the most important thing. Cash isn't the biggest issue. Just be patient, look for bargains on E-bay and know some of the right people.

Remember, I am allready working for 5 years on it. And my daily is just a simple basic Polo 6N2.

And offcourse you can spend any money only once, so I don't go out a lot and only 1 week on holiday every year.

Found a few pics of the engine during rebuild. I didn't want to much polished / chrome stuff on it because I still think a car is made to drive not to wash or wax it daily and drive it on a trailer

It is rebuilt mainly as stock, only the head and 3F inlet have been flowed. Also a 4-2-1 exhaust, Newman cam and a 68 pulley will be fitted.

After I am satisfied completely I will have a custom chip.

Important for me is that it will stay reliable and I can enjoy it for many years to come!

hi i love the violet colour I've just finished a g40 genesis too i inported it from switzerland.

I've also got the genesis logo reproduced to the exact same as the original and saved on the sticker guy computer if you need some !!

So guys, haven't been updating for a while. But that doesn't means nothing has been done :-D

We cleaned almost everything under the hood, the rest will be removed next week. But we first have to make something to support the car, without the axles etc.

Then it is ready for welding, sanding and painting.

I have now most of the parts that will be renewed under the bonnet in my own "stock"

- Smaller washing tank (why is the original one so big ass huge?!)

- Brembo disks

- EBC Green stuff pads

- New Lux clutch

As you can see, painting is necessary. There are some bad spots coming on it, luckily nothing major or unrepairable.

Should look even better when back together..

Don't fancy a swap for the left hand rear light? I've got a good condition one here with a reverse light (uk spec)

So guys time for an update!

This weekend we made a lot of progress! What you see..

- The gearboxmount is welded, to hopefully prevent it from breaking!

- We stripped the engineroom as far as possible and sanded it down.

- The bad spots with rust are grinded away and will get some layers of filler

- Sandblasted the last parts

Luckily still no big suprises and most of the care looks extremely good for its age and mileage!

Got my hands on a G40 Cup frame, this is a exact replica. Mine will be black, but you guys get the picture I guess.

So handeling will improve also big time!

The engineroom is now ready for paint, this will be done today or tomorrow.

Also the last parts are now going to be galvanized. Then it's buildingtime again!

Next step done! She is becoming more beautiful with every step and making me more proud :-D

Now we let the paint harden good enough, the frame needs to be welded off and painted. And then.. Building up time!!
